Another few days and we should know if the card dates are fact or fiction. If I stay at diamond, the card can be believed, if I drop to gold (as per my earning from 2012 calendar year), so be it.

Well the T&Cs from VA about the hotel partner statuses say that HHonors Diamond is valid for 6 months. So in theory if you requested Diamond in Feb it 'should' be valid through until August in any case; obviously our membership cards aren't reflecting that though.

Correct, and the evidence seen is condradictory. At least one member posted that he lost his upgrade after 6 months because he didn't do the 4 stays required.....others have suggested they didn't do the 4 stays but kept the upgrade. HH have told me that status renewal is a manual process done by living, breathing people rather than computers, so I'm thinking that most likely explains the discrepancies, but at the end of the day, I believe what the computer says will over rule what the card says. Hopefully both will tally in our favour!

I was status matched by VA to Plat in September 2011 and therefore became an HH Diamond with an expiery date of March 2013.

As this HH status is about to expire and my VA status has dropped to gold, I have assumed that there is no soft landing with HH so I applied for HH gold through VA.

I recieved the email yesterday saying congrats you have been given HH gold...not sure if I have shot myself in the foot but it will be interesting to see what my on line status with HH says on April 1, I am assuming gold.

This is impotant as I have a series of Hilton stays booked for April and I am keen to have some status benefits.

Theoretically, you will be gold but I'd be interested in the outcome (and the date you get on the new card.....presumably Mar 2015).

Current online status still shows up as Diamond as at April 2, next stay this week end.

No new card as yet just an email confirming gold via my VA status.

Still showing Diamond for me, and just given Diamond treatment on check-in at Hilton Cairns. Guess that answers it for me!

EDIT: Now showing as silver online :( damn.

Remember your current status is shown on line in big text. The bar graph shows your YTD requal progress and is for your information only and not a representation of your current status. Which one is showing silver, the text or the bar graph?

The text says silver :( so why didn't Diamond last until 2014 like others? I had close to 50 nights with them this yr.

Shouldn't you at least be Gold if you had over 40 nights?

Have others had the same experience ie drop from VA Plat to Gold and receive a new round of partner benefits? So if you cycled Plat -> Gold -> Plat etc you could keep the benefits rolling over?

Unlike staying at WP and only getting the benefit once.

i might ponder this as I approach my renew date in Sep. I don't consider the day to day benefit of VA WP over Gold to be that much better (all my personal travel is generally OW).

Alot of those were Q1 2012 so i guess they are in last years hilton year. Unfortunately, i will be leaving hilton if i lose Diamond status as i am Gold Marriott (and been given freebie Accor Platinum) - their loss, big US trip in May for me.

HHonors status earning calcualtions are done by the year.

Your stays/nights/points garnered Jan-Dec count. Q1 2012 is just as important as Q2/Q3/Q4 2012.

Hmmm i will check then. Something must not have credited. I must admit i don't religiously check hhonors.

When did you first gain the diamond SM?

If it was in 2011 (even Dec 2011) it would only have been until Mar 2013. If it was early 2012, then the common belief that you need to wait untill later than Mar may have some credance after all (By the anecdotes raised here, I'd already consigned that to the "urban myth" basket).

For your 2012 bookings, if they were made through Hilton directly (no third party booking site) and numbered more than 18 stays or 35 nites or earned more than 60 000 base points (I think they were the levels, as they changed in 2013), you should have requaled gold, but they had to all be accrued in 2012, none in 2013 will count, not even the ones prior to Mar 30 as those ones contribute to your 2013 balance.

Just checked. Whilst i had over 40 nights, 3 of those were Elara Las Vegas (don't count - which i knew). The thing that irks me is that i also had 10 nights at Doubletree Chicago Magnificent Mile that are also showing as no points and do not count for status. Can't figure out why. So there you go.

Why do your stays at Elara not count?

No points, no benefits as they are Hilton Vacations???

That didn't apply for my stay at Elara. Upgraded and given points and nights' credit for stay.
I think the only stays which don't count are the freebies associated with Time Share presentations.
There are numerous posts on FT at the time of opening of Elara relating to incorrect or non-posting of stays.
I would chase this up with HHonors if you had a bona-fide paid or reward stay at Elara as it should be an eligible stay.

Thanks Fiona, it was a paid stay booked through HHonors. I will follow up the Doubletree that posted as zero as well.

OT but relevant to the non-posting bit, my last Brisbane Hilton stay (2 rooms, 2 nights last weekend, booked on the anywhere any weekend promo) sat all week with "pending" noted. The pending bit is now gone and replaced with earning of 0 points, 0 stays, 0 nites and 0 miles. The late (or actually non) posting of points also prevented me from changing my double dip preference to points + fixed miles for my Mon night Sydney Hilton stay which cost me a further 300+ points.......

Seems things at HH don't always run smoothly.
