Hi,

Wonder what your opinions are on this?

Hilton has a sale 25% getaway if you book by end of April for stays until 31st Dec 2018. My issue is I need 8 nights in SIngapore. So looking at conrad.

First 2 nights I was thinking to pay using this sale then the third night (friday) use the weekend cert from macquarie hilton which I won't get until I spend $2000 which will be in around 4 weeks. then the 4th night until the 8th night use the rewards book for 4 and get 5th free using elite status.

Do you think it's wise to book the 2 nights now to take advantage of the discount and wait for the weekend cert and then at the same time use my reward points to book the rest? Probably need to call up when all this is done to link it into 1 booking to make sure I stay in the same room for hte 8 nights?

Thanks,
K.

My experience with Hilton has it's never been an issue staying in the same room with multiple bookings. So I'd book now and save. Absolute worse case scenario is you move rooms. Is that the end of the world for you?

Ok thanks. Won’t be end of the world :)

Travelling with wife and 7 year old daughter, do you recommend king bed or have 2 twin beds and join it together? They want $80 a night for 8 nights my wife wants to pass on the rollover bed for that cost :(

depends on where you are going and whether they are twin singles or twin doubles. Also if you and your wife or your wife and daughter can fit on a twin double. some places do not like you messing with their furniture

Oh ok.

Thanks. It’s twin singles I believe. Conrad Singapore. It says 48” wide each....

Need to book by Monday. Deciding between 1 king or 2 twins

I've just applied for the HH Macq CC and have been rejected and I'm super annoyed!
The total income for my wife and I is pretty high, we have no mortgage, we have minimal expenses, and I applied for the minimum 6k limit.

I got them to run the numbers again just now on the phone and they said it was rejected, so I asked what if I changed my rent and living expenses costs... and the lady said she could escalate the request and have them look at it again... so I lowered my monthly expenses by $500, and rent by $300 and she's now submitted my 'false' figures for review...

I find the latter acceptance laughable that they allow this to happen. But I'm also frustrated with how strict they are potentially on applicants? My credit score is also "Good".

Anyone had any luck re-submitting figures/applications etc?

I just applied for max credit limit and got accepted instantly. And I’m on a modest salary. Not 6 figures. I already hold a Amex plat edge, Citi signature and cba diamond cards (from home loan)

Is this card fee free for life atm? I have to say it took me second time round to get approval for this card. It’s one very hard card to get.

Not sure. I took the risk as some one reported that they signed up in feb this year and haven’t been charged the annual fee. On their website it says by jan 2018 it’s free. I will find out soon.

Make sure to have it in writing like I did in case they charge you an annual fee.

The website says the 1st yr of the fee is waived until Jan 31 2018, so I called to inquire in mid April 2018. The lady said if it hasn't been updated on the site then it still stands and is free for the first year.

So weird you got accepted with all those other cards. I even lied and said I had 10k of current credit card limits instead of 25k, and then resubmitted with false expense information - so we'll see how that goes. I honestly don't know what it is. I am 100% confident I could apply for the ANZ Black tomorrow and get approved.

Having previously been rejected, twice, I was approved on the 3rd try. On this, I tried another tactic. I increased my expenses and lowered my net income.

I don't know how they determine who gets the card, but that was the tactic that I used in the end (in desperation, as I was keen to get the card at the time). May not have been relevant, but ..........

Edit: This was about 3 years ago

Maybe you applied for too low of a credit limit. Or maybe you need lots of cards like me lol.

How does that even work or make sense?? You earnt less... but spent more... and they approved you? Macq Bank ay...

I've opened 1 x ANZ Black this year and have closed it already.

Macq call centre said they cannot tell me the reasons of rejection other than it was based on the info I provided them. And they cannot tell me how to improve my failed bid as that may affect my credit history in the future....

I just applied for the lowest limit which was 6k. So I didn't apply for a limit outside of the card rules.

So annoying!

They assessed that I was more likely not to be able to pay off the card in full, and therefore will be paying interest to Macquarie. Maybe???????

Edit: I left it for a good 6 months between applications

Try by not assigning a credit limit and leave it at max available. Who knows may work...

Lot of people get rejected first time. Don’t kick yourself over it. There’s other cards that’s worthwhile.
