Does anyone know yet if it will operate in reverse? So when my VA status drops from WP to SG in a few weeks, and my HH diamond (opted in in 2012) drops to blue, will I be able to opt in again as HH Gold?

.. and that is why for the question previously asked, I'd say don't pull the trigger on your VA Gold for IHG Gold.... leave it so that when you drop back to VA Gold (if you do), you can then pull the trigger on your HH Gold if/when your HH Diamond drops

Yes, that is how I received the Gold option. Knowing I had the bookings to qualify VA WP in April I used the IHG beforehand.

It does operate in reverse. I opted in for Gold status in April 2013 so should have Gold status until March 2015.

I took the IHG option a couple of years ago. But now we are moving significant business to Hilton. Since the HHonors option is no longer available to me I thought I'd email direct and ask. Just heard back. Declined saying it was a targeted offer

If your company is booking a lot of Hilton rooms, why don't you ask Hilton directly for a status match?

That's what I think too. I know of companies with 4 stays in 90 day type challenges for Gold.

Would have been happy with a Challenge. If my HHonors request option was still available under my Velocity login that's what I would have got anyway. A bit disappointed on a flat refusal though. If they are keen to get VA members I would have that this would still be the case direct. I did send a copy of my card for verification. Oh well, will have to fight tooth and nail to stay in my current haunts.

Perhaps they've fixed the 'loophole' then allowing double dipping...

I'm not sure why they keep it showing in your account.... its not really a benefit anymore once you have used it out. In fact, keeping in your account makes it look like its an ongoing benefit, which it most certainly is not.

Perhaps. One variable that may have impacted in my case is that I used the Velocity Parental Pause to suspend membership for 6 months.

I know from my call to HH to check 2014 status that their system clearly shows that you are Diamond / Gold as a part of a VA promo, and that VA promo status has an expiry date. I'll check Velocity account again in April to see if anything has changed.
