Her indoor's birthday was coming up, so go somewhere warm away from Canberra, Hervey Bay fitted the bill, have wanted to go there for a while, maybe see some whales and a car show as well, can't loose.
With the problem child safely ensconsed in jail, it was an Alliance Embraer 190 to Brisvegas, followed by a Dash 8 to Hervey Bay. Can't say I'm a fan of either aircraft, but we got here in one piece which is the main thing.
Mantra, 5 nights, couldn't really notice anything extra for being gold, or whatever, we were meant to have high speed wifi , but it was very ordinary, in fact, not possible from our room, however it did get better.
H.B.. is actually several 'towns' spread out along Hervey Bay.
Urangan, Shellys Beach, Torquay, Scarness, Point Vernon, all joined together by urban sprawl.
Wandered out to Toogoom next morning, good breakfast at Goodys on the beach.
Then, as we do, a bit of driving, Howard for their saturday morning market, Childers, just over 25 years following the backpackers fire, hope he is never released, Burrum Heads, a lot of new building happening, no idea who is buying these places.
Woodgate, for example, very large new developement happening nearby with not much in the way, imo, of supporting infrastructure. A long trip if you forget the milk....

Down the highway to Maryborough then back to the Mantra.
Rescued greyhound and her friend at Toogoom, plus bird life., pity the ipad isn't that good for photos.
