The Hertz Downtown office has finally moved from the "pokey little cage" (as I called it) to a swanky new office about 500m away, attached to a car parking garage.

They give out the 2 keys at check-in (he said because of the security concerns, they aren't left in the car any more) and direct you back outside, to a doorway between the buildings that leads into the car park. They also give a card to exit the car park.

Yes but they have increased the location fee by about 7-10% from memory to pay for that location :(

Yes, I did choke on the price for my rental - $96 for a 3.5 hour trip from Downtown to Claremont, then back out to airport. Having my luggage (and being checked out of hotel) was the decider, otherwise would have picked taxi.

Hertz have a $25 different location fee for city to airport rentals!
