Up to now , I dread flying J on BA.
The hassle getting to the aisle is a regular problem for me in the A380.
Maybe this is a positive change.

'tis why God created 53A, 53K, 59A and 59K :p

....but yes if you are not in those window seats on the top deck it is not great. (Still yet to try 53E and 59E....although too be fair not had to fly BA CW often....sadly that is about to change. o_O

Best thing about A380 CW, grab a window seat and get those capacious 'lockers' :)

I tried one of the middle seats on the A380's upper deck last month - the seating is 2-3-2 instead of 2-4-2 - it has a bit of extra room but that didn't compensate for having people on both sides.

Here’s a trip review of the new club world “suites” on the A350/1000 whilst it does European short hauls during crew acclimatisation.

Myself and Mrs BD are on BA92 YYZ to LHR J shortly. I shall have a crack at a review.

The flight before that is J CX HKG to YYZ, 2 weeks prior. Should be an interesting comparison - both in centre seats, SWMBO won't have us sitting line astern so I have to sacrifice the view.

Well, we’ve completed both our CX 773 J and BA 350-1000 J legs.

I preferred the Cathay seat while Mrs BD preferred BA.

My thoughts on the BA 350-1000 seat were that it just felt smaller, very private though and the centre seats on both carriers are fine for couples.

I found the BA cabin overly warm, and that’s from someone who lives in Townsville.

Service on both was outstanding. And I genuinely mean that for BA. The food on BA was also very, very good. Maybe I caught them on a good day, maybe my expectations are lower, who knows but certainly up there with anything else I’ve experienced in J with many different carriers.

Sorry for the lack of photos, I was far too busy swilling and gorging!!

Happy to answer specific queries if anyone has them.

Travelled yesterday on BA11 London to Sin. Wife & I on lower deck in j in a 2-4-2 configuration. Would never do it again. Seats appeared smaller than other j products we have travelled on. I was in the middle aisle seat with wife seated in one of the middle 4 seats facing to the rear. She was seated next to a young English bloke & his bride was on the other middle aisle seat facing forward.

They looked unhappy & my wife said as she was right next to him would he like to swap (after asking me) so his bride could at least be next to him without the barrier. They did & were very happy. I then saw my wife 12 hours later in Singers.

The thing I didn’t like was the complete lack of storage space for even a bottle of water. One small shoe box which didn’t fit my shoes under the lay flat bed.

Anyway I’ve now experienced it & can only hope the new product is an improvement.

Cheers

I may have to go back to Qantas. Although they seem to be refitting their Business class on the A380. I hear that Y+ is much better than J or F on QF.:p:p:p:p
I suggest you do not do that. In my view it is CX ahead of BA. QF remains a joke. Having just had my latest experience in the lounge in Singapore I am assured there cannot be much worse.

Some might see that as a win- win !

So after a bit of advice from the BA regulars as I’ve just started researching a trip to the USA in Oct/Nov and although I’m not yet in the window to purchase anything I was looking at BA from YYZ-LHR and they currently have 2x daily’s. One on a 787 and one on the 777-200. Any pro’s and cons of either and is one superior to the other in J?

I would go for the 787..........solely because the 777-200's are a lottery in terms of refit. The 787 will be a better all round experience regardless - air quality, ambient noise etc. (I have just changed, through a stroke of luck, from a 777 to a 787 for an EWR-LHR flight next week.)

Was hoping to try out the A350 from YYZ-LHR next Oct/Nov but it looks like BA revert back to the 787 from the end of March.

I know BA CW cops an extraordinary amount of flack but I just wanted to post a good news story for a change after getting off an LHR-LAX service. Admittedly I scored 53A on the A380 with nice side bin storage and aisle access but this long haul BA flight Club world flight for me was a real highlight.

Yes the storage space is cough and yes I had it better than most but I consistently find the CW seat and bed to be one of the most comfortable seats of any J product I've tried (in terms of cushioning).

On top of that I had what was easily and by some distance the best meal I have ever had in J. Very high quality produce cooked to perfection and served by an excellent crew who were professional but quite fun while not being intrusive. The white company bedding is lovely.

I also find the iFE very intuitive and seems to have more content geared to my tastes than many others.

I think they've really lifted their game and cop too much cough really.

Having said that I eagerly await trying the new club world and won't mourn the death of the older design.

flew LHR IAD a few months ago and agree with all your points. That was the fourth BA leg, 2 CW 2 Euro bus, found food and crew great with all and the bed very comfortable in CW.
All in all a very pleasant surprise.

Have 53A on BA31 (LHR-HKG) in April, so good to have your feedback.

I’ve done 53A on that flight too. Was less memorable as I was completely exhausted and went to sleep immediately and skipped dinner. Slept for 9 hours and woke for breakfast.

It has been a while since I have been in BA Club World (for the right reason) on the 380 but in order my preferences are 53A, 53K, 59A and 59K.

I think we all know that Club World on the 380 is not the best but the BA seat makes an exceptional sleeper.

I am looking at booking BA16/12 to LHR in September. What prey tell would be my chances of new CW with the B777 and A380 combo?
