Heads up about program changes

Some people think Virgin are great. I don't. Everyone shares their experiences, their opinions, of why they think one is better than the other.

And there's a big difference between Virgin Australia, Velocity, Qantas and Qantas Frequent Flyer.

I would prefer to fly Qantas - but the Velocity program for me is much more rewarding.

What I would like is the best of both worlds for domestic travel:

Qantas website, Velocity FF program, Qantas lounges, Virgin Priority Boarding, Qantas Aircraft, Virgin on board announcements, Virgin uniforms, Virgin crew, Qantas knowledge in Virgin crews heads, and the shadows from a poorly lit street.

Please realise I have a lot of respect for you and your innovation so these posts are not an attack on you.

Velocity FF program is an OK program but there a couple of serious problems from where I am sitting

- Hardly any international flights to where I want to go. I am not interested in LAX or AUH and I am certainly not interested in Middle Eastern carrier
- Virgin, the organisation, are a load of hogwash. I am sorry but that is my observation

Until a couple of years ago QFF was great. Now it is poor. Attrocious if you like. Qantas have never treated me badly. Sure I cannot get the award seats I want but for me the weekly travelling experience is just as important as the points I accumulate. I am stressing enough as it is living away from my beloved home. The last thing I need is torture there and back. That is what the Virgin feels like to me

And this is the thing that people do not understand. Everyone's travel experience is different.

- I couldn't care less about priority boarding
- I hate SYD T2
- I hate the atmosphere inside a Virgin cabin. Flew QF last week up from SYD-BNE and the first 6-7 rows were so quiet I felt great. Virgin cabin is chaos
- I want a meal at dinner time and I want more than 1 drink. I don't need FA's and incompetent to complete cabin service
- I feel comfortale inside a Qantas lounge. I cannot say the same about Virgin lounges

Why would anyone correct anyone else here is beyond me (especially on subjective matters such as quality of service). I'm fine with people sharing their experience, but I am buff led how some people here keep trying to correct others while it is as clear as day that it is a futile effort. You obviously value Qantas over Virgin. Good for you. Each to their own, I'd say.

The point is there is no meaningful difference between the virgin and Qantas for domestic flights, all things considered. Correction of falsely claiming there is a difference is important.

As an example, the same food is outstanding when served by Qantas and childish rubbish by Virgin. That is a position that needs to be challenged. Making such a challenge certainly isn't a statement that one airline is great.

Regarding the award seats JohnK, have you tried asking them to open up what you are after?

Yeah ok. Everyone's travel experience is different. Except when they don't agree with your travel
experience?.

I can totally understand you on these points. Your drivers behind choosing an airline is feeling relaxed and comfortable in a warm environment?

To be honest upstairs in the Virgin lounge syd I like a lot. Much more private feel - like upper deck on a 747.

Wow, that doesn't say much for the VA website!
The entire web team would have lost their jobs a long time ago if I were there ;)

In your opinion there is no difference. You are trashing my opinion again.

I don't care about your travel travel experience. My travel experience matters to me. Not yours.

There is no need for you to put down my posts. Continuously.

I can see this thread closed and these posts deleted which is a shame.

What, because he disagrees with you (and you with him)?

It's not just disagreement.

According to some I need fact to substantiate my opinion. No I don't. That is why it is an opinion. My experience is good enough.

I think it's cold. No it's not. Yes it is. No right or wrong regardless of how you hash it. I should be able to express my opinion without being ridiculed.

Can't it be warm, rather than Hot? Cool rather than Cold? ... or other temperatures in between?

What many see here is continual broad reaching statement, made in such a way as to contradict in one facet or another of the actual experience of many. Not always, but regularly.

Now while it is certain those personal views do come from very significant experience, the main issue is they get stated with such black and white finality that there is often left no room for compromise or even partial observance.

There are other very experienced travellers on this forum who also have very significant knowledge in these realms - I perceive myself as one and while much of what you post can be agreed with, the way they are expressed in blanket statements makes much of that basically impossible - more so due to the 'black and white' aspect of the posts, rather than any general inaccuracy.

To summarise, you are "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" with such posts - and time and time again.

As a result your credibility suffers.

Again I did not write there is no difference.

To date you're the only person who consistently claims that there is a massive difference between the airlines. Unfortunately the facts don't support your opinion. Saying as much is not trashing your opinion and it is not a put down. You can have your opinion. But you must also accept that your opinion that Virgin is an atrocious, childish airline does not match my experience. As such it is entirely reasonable for my opinion to ask if the issue is virgin or something else.

Just to be perfectly clear, I am absolutely not saying you can't make up whatever opinion you wish. Just that your opinion is invalidated when it is not supported by the facts. Chemcultists have the opinion that chemicals are being sprayed on them by commercial airlines. Holding that opinion does not make them correct.

Yes exactly! Holden vs Ford, Sydney vs Melbourne, TAA vs Ansett (!!), Coles vs Woolworths, Big W vs K Mart, Myer vs DJ's, iOS vs Android and so on....

Again, I see no meaningful difference between any of those. If someone was to express the opinion that ford was atrocious, childish rubbish and Holden not or vice versa, I would equally challenge that opinion.
