In short, routing rules were changed, and in effect, the run was no longer worth the astronomical costs (if it was even bookable in the first place).
Was that back a while when they changed it so that those ex-Perth etc were the beneficiaries?
 
It would be far batter if all loyalty programs would be more honest with their members and not trying to sell devaluations as being fairer, simpler, enhancement etc.

I hope Qantas survives this mess ? do not have a good feeling .

These various Qantas SC earning charts are far more complicated than the old distance based one. Wonder who came up with this ridiculous idea?

Was away when this little bombshell dropped, and have been skimming this thread. Like others I want to see Qantas not just survive, but to thrive as an airline both domestically and internationally. I just can't see how messing around with the FF program and alienating loyal customers is going to assist.
The phrase 'fiddling whilst Rome burns' springs to mind. :-|
 
I wonder if it would be possible to limit lounge access to only those who have purchased a bundle despite their status. JQ is a LCC, and is available for a lower fare for those who aren't paying for the bells and whistles. Lounge access should be included in that list. If a pax wants to have the additional on board services, and be able to choose a seat just like he/she is flying on a legacy airline, it can be paid for with the bundle. Perhaps the ability to access lounges should be linked to this as well. This will also lock out those pax $9 price matches.

Then you also need to ensure that lounge access is also not available with all the partner OW flights that don't earn points or SC just to be fair. Lounge access is given if you are flying a QF partner or OW AIRLINE, doesn't depend on the class of flight or type of ticket.

This has really wiped the credibility that Qantas once had as far as I'm concerned - "simpler" - what a complete joke - simpler for who? Obviously not their customers. I'm getting tired of the constant changes - a couple of years ago we moved to piece rate baggage allowances across all of the QF network so as everything lined up, then international went back to a KG allowance under the Ek deal, now this mess

Those that are badly affected by this are pretty upset, those that think that it has been poorly thought out and implemented it are upset - I can't see Qantas coming out of this better than they were.

Probably the same genius that said that this makes it simpler.
 
My disappointment is with the reduced SC's earned with OW RTW business class tickets that must involve some OW Partners where QANTAS does not fly. Lifetime QFF Gold is a distant vision now.
I will look beyond Qantas and OW for best priced RTW tickets and forget status upgrading.

As a long-time loyal Qantas flyer disappointed with the reductions in the QFF benefits over many years, I have even taken my first VA flight recently and will now look beyond Qantas and Jetstar for domestic flights.
 
Unlike Qantas, AA print the actual fare bucket on you boarding pass.
Cheers for that - hadn't noticed! M outbound, S inbound. Will get something but it won't be much as it was just a puddle jump flight.
 
My understanding was that all existing bookings would be paid out under the conditions they were booked under.

It is simply wrong, arrogant and so illustrative of on-the-run policy knee jerk response to penalise those who had OW bookings made in good faith before 27th March 2014 for travel after 1st July 2014.

I am not a lawyer. Nor do I have the time.

But this would not - IMO - stand up to scrutiny for more than 5 seconds in front of a judge as the conduct of changing T & C retrospectively is manifestly not acceptable anywhere.

Red Roo, we all know the situation is bad, but is it this dire to shaft your members who conducted themselves within the rules ?

Or, is that the case that the IT team could not handle differential credits / points for OW flights ?

My memory doesn't stretch back that far, although I thought the only beneficiaries were the Qantas bean counters.

JQ is not in the OW alliance, that being the difference. Nor are there any other short-haul OW partner flights available in Australia unless you count the non-bookable dom sectors by CX or the hop across the Tasman on LAN.
