Have the rules changed earning points and sc on flight upgrades??

Just to clarify - this is what I am seeing the next day after flying, on my Velocity statement, two VA domestic flights on same day and same PNR - one flight upgraded from Y to J using a classic velocity points upgrade, and the second flight (same PNR and booking) flown in Y class cabin (no upgrade attempted).

I assume this is what other people are seeing? Pretty wasteful that VA will be expecting everyone to call and ask for their Velocity SC and points earning to be manually corrected in the event that their points aren't posting correctly. Now if only there were some way that a computer system could keep track of members earning and original fare classes so that Velocity points are posted correctly and automatically without the cost and time of human intervention! :rolleyes:How good would that that be?

And I see that the 'Claim Missing Points" tool helpfully "greys out" days less than 14 days ago so you cant put in a claim for incorrect points earning until 14 days have elapsed. Because these sort of errors/mistakes are always fixed/corrected within 14 days aren't they?

My flight just fixed itself automatically. Correction came in 14 days after the original flight, including double status credits.

Who said VA is expecting people to call to remedy the situation?

We're not a good sample of people to determine who has and hasn't called - we're all likely to be pretty OCD when it comes to keeping track of points and thus be on the phone as soon as we sniff a potential issue.

I first noticed this two weeks ago, called up and fixed in the call and partner (Family pooling) got the correct amount within a few minutes.

subsequent flights that were in error have had corrections applied without me needing to call.

As per my experience there isn't a need to call at all. My flight was fixed up without having to call.

I'm having a similar issue, albeit crediting EY to VA. Flew AUH to HKG 7 weeks ago paid economy with a successful bid to business (Pretty nice). Showed up in my history a couple of days later sans any points and SCs. Followed up by email with BP and booking confirmation. Told it can take 4-6 weeks. Followed up again yesterday and informed they're still waiting for Etihad confirmation. Obviously pretty low scale in the scheme of things but one does have to wonder how something that I see as relatively simple can take so long. And if it isn't relatively simple to VA with one of their more cohesive partners then why isn't it?

To follow up - I emailed gold@velocityfrequentflyer.com and asked for a correction, was replied to the next day - the explanation email was unfortunately deleted but the gist of it was, that due to some system errors/bugs they would have to manually credit that upgraded flight on a different day to the date that the flight was actually taken to prevent a duplicate record. Anyway - manually credited now and all good.

As others have said - this is a self selecting group of flyers on this forum but I wonder how many people don't check their SC and points balances and how much stuff slips through to the keeper? Seems like anything that is unusual like upgraded, complimentary Plat upgrades, family pooling, rerouted, codeshare partner etc is posting as zero's for people?

I should imagine there'd be more than a few. I only know how the system works and the importance of checking things like correct SC earn being posted, because of what I've learned here on AFF. There'd be a LOT of people who don't really have any idea and are missing out on points and SCs (not just in this situation, although it appears Velocity is in the process - hopefully - of rectifying these manually even if not contacted) but when there's other "glitches" and "quirks" in the system, such as my "booked J but got Y SCs on the AT72" saga, or when SCs don't post at all for partner flights and have to be chased up.
