Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

My first attempt this morning (which had been ticketed) was cancelled and points returned immediately, but that may be because it was QF to QF asking...

Just tired to book cbr-syd-nou rtn (or cbr-bne-nou rtn) as a mASA in J and was quoted co-payments of around $1400 instead of the $402 for the classic award.

Does this seem right to anyone? :(

Are you booking on the QF91/92, or one of the code-shared flights? I could imagine that the cost would go up significantly if you were on one of the AirCalin codeshared flights

Booked my last JASA today with the Premium desk (she has done alot today!!!):( I now have 3 "just incase" Syd-Bne-Tsv JASA intineraries in case needed for Plat requalification. Will probably cancel 1 or 2 of them. On a sadder noite, it was confirmed to me that all the Melbourne based QF staff at the Premium desk are going to made redundant with the move to Tasmania. None of the Melbourne based stuff will be relocating to Tasmania, and the Melb staff have an average of 15 years experience with QF :(

That's a lot of intellectual capital walking out the door :(

If I book a JASA before midnight tonight, can I make date changes after 1 July and still get SCs so long as there is U availability on another date?

In that case I might book a HKG-SYD/MEL for a random date tonight and just change it later as required. What's the change fee, if any, then?

Change fees depend on the fare rules of each individual booking ... Some JASA's to Asia have had fees in the order of $300.

Moreover, in recent times I have had some trouble changing to days beyond a year past the original ticketing date, even though Qantas' standard policy for international changes effectively allows for changes to days up to two years from the initial ticketing date.

Hi, rang yesterday to book. Tried to explain several times Any Seat award at Classic rate etc, kept being told could be done on line and I was trying to tell here these could not be. She was getting quite terse and asking me for proof ie email or something with the "promotion". Tried to explain not a promotion but ending soon but gave up in the end. Rang a few moments later, just using redial on phone, but after on hold 20 mins gave up again.
Rang later in evening and got Glenda I think name (turns out she is in Hobart) Got the same reply but after more explanation she checked and obviously needed some help getting into a different system. A couple of hiccups and some more checking from supervisor or whoever by her, finally had it booked.

ADL-BNE-CNS-BNE. (sorry if codes not exact) cost a total of 60,000 points and cant remember exact cost atm but was between $430-480? so hope I did alright.

Going via Bris seems to give me 120 sc on new system rather than 100 via Sydney. Could not find any via Townsville for 24,000 points as did couple years back but also think that is now 100sc also? And another 60 sc back to BRis giving total of 180 hopefully. (will stay a few days and get economy on sale back to Adel) May help me at least to stay silver for couple more years - dont think will be able to afford that many flights to go higher though unfortunately.

Also asked re change/cancellation etc and she checked with someone and also read t/c when booking and all she could find was same as any business booking - can change at no charge and cancel at 5,000 points. She was very helpful and also rang later (driving so could not answer) but left message on home phone she had forgot to mention cc fee of $7.00

Hmm forgot about this. Wonder if you can book them right up to midnight?

I've only got 85k points anyway ... don't know where I'd get to with that!

As JT posted recently RedRoo said yes - see post 3422 in this thread.

Funny, I had a great rep today from Hobart who was all over it, got my last two JASAs booked in no time but did say I wouldnt be able to rebook as per classic awards.. So go figure.

After many arguments today between my wallet, ff points balance (same team) & I, my wallet and ff points balance won - I'm not buying any marginal Any Seat awards before they get discontinued :(.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread and JessicaTam for updating the spreadsheet, without you all, I would never have known about Marginal Any Seat Awards and would never have been able to fly Business Class back in March... thank you! :D

RIP mASAs

Just redeemed my last 75,000 points. A FASA from LHR-DXB early next year on QF2, not enough points to get all the way home, so looks I'll be saving up for a classic award DXB-BNE. 90% to lifetime gold now, so that was the main incentive! I'll miss my mASAs :(
