Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I was contemplating a MEL-CBR Y(X)ASA, but it was going to be 8,000 pts + $87.31 or 18,288 pts inclusive. The Classic quote was 8,000 pts + $35. I didn't think $50 for the 10SCs a MASA would earn here would be worth it.

Only if you're 10 SCs short and there is no other way before renewal date.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Rang Qantas to make a booking, asked for Any Seat Award in P class from Perth to Melbourne to Heathrow. Was told to do it on the website, I quoted Right on Q she read the title out load and said I didn't think we were allowed to do these anymore.

I was placed on hold and about 4 minutes late I got a response ok just sifting through pages of text where do you want to go to and from went through the process she initially tried to do T class until I corrected her with P class, she talked about having to grab a U class then a P class then several times put me on hold, referred a lot to sifting through pages of text. As I hadn't seen this run before on the spreadsheet was unsure however I working on the distance being 9000 miles which mean I should be able to get a minimum of 168,000. I figured of the AKL to America run works then Perth would work in the same regards.

Eventually we go a qoute 247967 points total or 168,000 + $860.11. As there was two of us this was then doubled unfortunately I was 10,000 points short of two people and it sounded like it was going to be a pain to do it separately so my partner got online and transferred 20,000 points across to me.

Anyway it took a while after that checked with her supervisor I believe but after 35 minutes on the phone we eventually had tickets U to Melbourne and P to London on QF9. Can't wait till April next year :). Also 500 status credits and 50,000 points after loyalty bonus.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

My first ASA as a freshly minted WP and it was perfect! Assume I got the premium desk, but the agent new exactly what I wanted to do and we were all said and done in under 10 minutes. Amazing!

MEL-SYD-LAX in J
LAX-SYD in F, SYD-MEL in J.

All up, 1828.33 including the CC fee. Mentioned this seemed high, agent advised it was due to higher taxes for going through SYD and slightly higher taxes for the F segment. TBH she seemed to know what she was doing so I trusted her. Pretty sure it works out to 530SC - really looking forward to my first trip in F on the A380!

Is it any cheaper if you book pure SYD-NRT?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I can't recall the thread where I read it previously. My question is if I am on a MASA and due to late running they change my indirect route to a direct route, can I claim the status credits I partially missed for the indirect part of the route plus the 50% bonus that I registered for as well. I was supposed to fly Per - Mel - Bne but they put me on a direct which has cost me 60 SC plus the 30 bonus SC. In essence my copay was higher so I feel like I am entitled to claim them. Anyone had luck previously with this.

But in short: Yes, you can claim ORCs (original routing credits).

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

.... suggest ringing the premium desk to book as when I called the "special" number given by QF to make mASA bookings, the agent told me that they could no longer be booked; thanked him immediately (calling on Skype from OS) and rang the Premium desk ....

Yes, I agree. There are now some duds answering what was once the "special" number. It's no longer "special".

I've rung that 1300 quite a few times over the past week and just the same old "it can't be done anymore". They don't even want to try to do the booking.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just hang up and try again... they can still easily be booked ....

I'm starting to get a taste for these things!

2 x F SYD-LHR for April next year 384,000 + $1,576.00 :D

Just booked the return journey. This time it was Lauren and although she got the job done - it took forever with a dismissive tone thrown in for free. For some reason the return flight cost more than the trip over

2 x F LHR-SYD 416,520 + $2,250.84 + CC fee ($60).......the co-payment for 384,000 was around $2,600 ++

Will need to cough up to get the SYD-BNE added but decided to grab the P seats while I could. Didn't want to risk waiting for the daily release of seats to roll over tonight.....

Winning a spot in the Gallipoli ballot is expensive ;)
