Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Successfully upgraded a JASA LHR-MEL to a FASA for travel next week, $620pp. Seems like reasonable value for the extra SCs but nothing like the old days of $400 or so... No upgrade lottery for us ;)

Impressive.. They have been difficult with my last one.

might be off topic but I was Platinum, now gold, next year silver, following year bronze perhaps the year after I will be lead.
I have travelled no less but simply now pay for economy tickets and upgrade with points. my lounge and in flight experience is the same, only loss is perhaps multiplier of points.
my point is previously I used a shandy of JASA's and PAID business class flights to get and maintain that status spending many thousands of dollars a year to keep.
Now I don't spend 1/4 of the previous amount but I still basically get what we all used to strive for playing "the game".
in my book Alan Joyce has done a great job ( for me !!), opened my eyes and closed my wallet. I realise not everyone will agree

Could not agree more with all the points and the concluding remark; I especially liked the possibility of becoming "lead" in a couple of years, it resonates with me as well :)

For a lot of people it now means spending with other airlines (eg AA) to retain QF status. Thats got to be quite a bit of lost revenue for QF, when they could have let us continue to throw points+cash at them....

The reality is QF has decided to reward real/cash loyalty and ultimately that is it's choice. I suspect it impact a very limited number of QF FFs and those impacted were at the lower end of the PCV scale (due to optimizing the system).

The fairer changes on sub <750m AA flights and AAs tightening up on the YUP routings also means the US is not what it used to be.

I thought I had finished our JASAs but we have a June one to go. PER-MEL-SYD-PER in J should be good.

I have a FASA now LHR-MEL-SYD-BNE thinking of changing to LHR-MEL-BNE-PER-SYD for some extra SCs. I wonder if this routing will be possible. Only time will tell I guess... Any thoughts? My understanding was the only rule was not hitting the same domestic city twice.

Wish these tricks had been discovered some time ago... Can't be many left as almost at 30 June

True, although one wonders whether the fares expire on 30 June, as technically the tickets should have validity as 12 months from the first sector. Has anyone pushed past the 30 June threshold on an xASA? I have one that doesn't have the first sector until next week... ;)

I was firmly told 30 June, albeit didn't push it a massive amount as would have only got a few more months

Was able to push out a further 5 FASAs out to 2016. Yet to add domestic sectors on these but have a few other FASA/JASAs pushed to 2016 that I have added SYD/PER and vice versa sectors to
Spent about 2m points last June on these

The issue is, I think:
Will the T&Cs be honoured, so far after the deadline?
Are you confident?

Tks for ur thoughts. Wasn't easy to get there. Took several attempts and a complaint
