Re: The totally off-topic thread

Reminds me of an application I rec'd some years ago in response to the question for them to advise experience with 'X'. The answer was simple and to his point, "no worries there".

That gave me a good laugh.

When did we change 'you're' to "your"?

I placed an ad on Seek yesterday afternoon and have received around 100 applications. I'm starting to despair....

"Thankyou for taking the time to pursue my following letter & resume" and "I am acquiring a position with regular hours....".

JessicaTam - you need to check out theoatmeal.com. I ordered their grammar pack of 5 posters for the office. The Literally one has gone missing, but the Apostrophe, Semi-colon ("the most feared punctuation on earth"), and Top 10 Words that are Commonly Misspelt are still up. And the other one which I can't remember the theme ...

Although you won't agree with the apostrophe one on possessive for names that end in s. They offer both options as valid, with no indication of one being less used nowadays.

Well, at one point, they would've been half-right in a way, and if you were to consider it in that context now, it makes for a very interesting malapropism. ;)
