Mr Goldenhorn and I are travelling to Japan in January 2020 with a 2-night stopover in Singpore on the way there and the way back.

One the way back, I've booked the Six Senses Maxwell via Virtuoso after reading this great review:
Hotel Review: Six Senses Maxwell Singapore The virtuoso benefits are very good with breakfast included, USD$100 credit, room upgrade, and late checkout.

On the way there, the problem is we land in SIN at 11:30pm on Tuesday and have an early morning flight on Thursday morning, so effectively, we have a full day in Singapore - about 30 hours or less.

I was initially looking at the Conrad Centennial because I wanted to try the Executive Lounge that has fairly good reviews, and I do love the benefits of a good lounge that serves REAL Champagne.

But now I'm thinking that with only a full day to enjoy the EL (breakfast/afternoon tea/canapes + coughtails), I don't think I'm going to get good value because I am effectively missing out on a full day of benefits and it's going to cost about $450-500 per night.

I'd love to know what are your favourite Singapore hotels when you only have a couple of nights but arrive late and leave early? I haven't been to Singapore for many, many years so I'm out of touch with what's good.

Any suggestions appreciated!

TYIA!

As always, depends on what you want to see, budget etc. The Fullerton Bay Hotel is right in the middle of things - especially if you haven't been to SIngapore for a while. A lot of people like the Marina Bay Sands and the infinity pool. You have the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest near by. MrsK and I have enjoyed the Quincy Hotel, up behind Orchard Road. Something a bit different with a pool up on the 12th floor, and free pre-dinner drinks on each evening.

I've been looking at The Fullerton and have seen others recommend it on AFF.

Quincy sounds like a lot of fun. Love the free inclusions of snacks/drinks in the evening. I'll check that out.

Do you like the breakfast at Quincy?

Thanks for your recommendations!

The breakfast was ok, nothing lavish. A mix of fruits, some hot items in western, indian and malay styles. It's a small area downstairs where the bar and meals area is.
When we were there for the evening drinks, they were being served up by the bar staff and you simply signed off the bill at the end of the session, which had a $0 balance on it. I think they then charged the hotel for the drinks they served you - so it was in their interest to make sure you were kept well 'watered'

Hi GH - I always find RC Singapore exceptional particularly at Club Level. (best club in Sing IMO)
The "house car" availability for close proximity trips is also a great benefit with Singapore's humidity.
By booking the base club room it is also quite affordable and the best view is from the Club lounge so no need to book Marina Bay view.
Reach out direct to them for best rate.

RC = Ritz Carlton?

If so, just checked out the Club Room views. WOW!

Yes - sorry for the abbreviation.
No worries. Can you explain the 'house car availability'? I can't see a reference to that online.

The rate looks very good for the base room with club access - less than Conrad with the current Hilton special.

Any idea if they serve real Champagne in the CR?

That looks awesome and exactly what I'm looking for.

Do you recall they if they serve Champagne in the CL?

I'm a Champagne snob and can't cope with sparkling wine dishwater lol

Thank you!

Mrs Cat and I stayed 5 nights at the Fullerton a few weeks ago. It's a nice hotel and it's fun to watch Crazy Rich Asians and be able to say "Hey - that's where we stayed!". The club however was underwhelming in terms of both beverages and food on offer - not terrible, just not quite what the tariff would suggest. There are rooms with a view, but there is a busy highway next door to the hotel in between it and the main sights (and the hotel is only medium rise). It has a pool on the river side which is very pleasant indeed, a great close up view of the skyscrapers of the financial district and the bridge featured in the movie. The property is very central and there are plenty of restaurants close by, including a big hawker's market (if that's what you're into). We decided against the pig snouts...
I'm currently staying at the Crowne Plaza at the airport, which is obviously a totally different class but surprisingly good. You will hear aircraft early in the morning, however. The hotel is a short walk from the Jewel shopping complex, which has a reasonable selection of restaurants if you don't feel like schlepping into town.
We've previously stayed at the Pan Pacific and found it quite nice, in fact the spread it put on for breakfast was probably the best we have had anywhere in the world. The club upstairs has a good view.
Raffles has recently reopened after several years of renovations. I suspect that they will charge a premium for the name, and you won't have a view. Marina Bay Sands doesn't appeal to me at all, a casino and shopping centre combine to detract from the ambience. Otherwise overall I think that Singapore hotels are generally of a pretty high standard and the sort of things I have mentioned are nit picking.

Thanks for the great info.

I'll take a look at the Crowne Plaza and Pan Pacific. I do love a good breakfast spread! :)

Hi again
As I recall they certainly have true Champagne - as a Ritz Carlton brand standard IIRC.
This is free flowing all day as is all beverages.
There is a cooking station also with chef within the club where they prepare breakfast items and special offerings across the day.

Sounds SO good.

Thank you for the recommendation!

The newish JW Marriott isn’t bad, probably more suited to corporate travellers though. Breakfast spread is never ending.

Maybe worth considering if you are flying Singapore Airliens - for the short stopover - the luxury hotel collection provided by their stopover program. While the entry level is $1 a night per person, there are hotels in the top de luxe category, including the Raffles.
