Gold classic award request...

2 things:

1) and you say this because? I never said it was a platinum benefit!

2) in this thread I stated that being a separate platinum ONE benefit marks a clear distinction from preferential award access. That distinction holds for all tier levels IMO. As such I don't agreed that preferential awards is acknowledgement of the ability to request awards.

Correct, but the contention is that this is a published platinum benefit. I am unable to find anything published for bog standard plat.

That's not my contention. I can't recall that idea being mentioned in particular. But I might have missed it.

Re: Gold upgrade request...

Along the same lines (and not trying to hijack this thread), is it possible for high-status QFFs to request a points upgrade for an international flight where it is not normally available? Many sale fares are not upgradeable, but from time to time I'll get an email from Qantas waiving that restriction for an upcoming booking. Are we able to request this treatment of a sale fare under any circumstances?

(Back-story: I bought PE one-way to LAX, economy back and then realised it's O for the return leg. Would dearly love to 'buy' my way out of whY)

... Is it available for non-showing seats like it is for WP?

I have a question for the wise, how often are blocks of flights are released with Classic award availability indicated ?? i'm looking at flights mid Jan 2016 and it's only showing up to the 13th Jan.

seats for up to Feb 2 have already been release, so it means that seats prior to this date have already been taken with a smattering of seats including 13Jan still available. When you go into the Qantas website you will see that dates from Feb 3 are greyed put meaning they have not been released.
