Does anyone know what’s going on with the so called GOLD Airways???

They have a web site www.goldairways.com.au but it seems to have a fake booking service with every destination in Australia on it!!!!!

I also heard on the grape vine that they are taking the name Ansett or RMA anyone else heard this.

Or are they related to the so called Ansett Company that has made bids for Skywest & Rex (heard that on the grape vine too)

After what has happened to Ozjet this week I don’t know what the changes of success will be i guess it depend on how deep the pockets go!

Would not be surprised if air operators certificates in Australia for new entrants have a 3 month validity in future given the recent goings on. Seems things are getting harder and harder for new aspirants to get into the market, with Compass MK1 and MK2, Impulse and now Ozjet going in increasingly short periods, mind you I suspect aircraft selection and fleet size had something to do with many of the collapses.

As for Gold - nothing is real until they have metal on the ground and an AOC.

Questions about this lot come up from time to time. As far as I have been able to ascertain, there is nothing really behind this airline. Their website has been around for a few years with the occasional makeove.

Just checked out the website and now has invester information posted.
With OzJet gone they have a chance to make a move and from what I have heard they are getting serious about this now.

Hmm, I wonder what they mean by a the model being an LCC-Premium Class. A little more info than what was there before, but you'd want to be brave entering the Australian domestic market.

I hope none of you are taking this seriously. Fools and their money....

Mahtoh would have to be right. After the experience with OzJet, unlikely Gold will ever fly.

I wish them well however must agree that they will most likely never fly and I certainly wouldn't invest any money.

As they say: "The best way to get a small fortune in aviation is to start with a large one"

Gold Aiwyas

I guess if they are able to secure the right mix of investor's then they will have a go and why shouldn't they.
There is room for another airline in this country, ever since Ansett's demise Qantas have had it all there own way just about.
More competition will be good for passengers, it is about time somebody stood up to Qantas and the federal government.

The Gold Airways website has changed over time but I think you can expect that as it grows from what appears to be humble beginnings. I would think their booking engine probably reflected target destinations, not all of which would be operated immediately. I see nothing unusual about that. Besides it appears to have only been a test interface.

The fact that they are raising awareness for expressions of interest for investors appears to me a maturing of their business plans. They are clearly targeting the existing markets but are not so foolish as to niche it as perhaps Ozjet, in retrospect, may have done.

To say it will not fly is probably a call not based on any sort of credible data. The converse would also be true but I would say with cost cost of maintaining a public company registration with ASIC close to $1200 per annum, the cost of hosting the website and so on, this is hardly something someone would do for kicks.

However, I would think that if it is true that an ex Ansett Engineer is behind it, I would say good on him for having a go because I for one believe in giving Australian entrepeneurs my support just as I supported Ozjet Airlines.

If they have got a 5 year plan and they are producing figures like that, all I can say is people had better not ignore it because is has what it takes to be successful - so don't knock it. Talk it up, give it your thumbs up and let investors know its probably another chance at busting this crazy duopoly that gives us little or no choice in travel.

I agree that it's not really appropriate to knock them before they have a chance, however nearly 40 years in the aviation industry has made me a bit cynical :!:

Hmmm. A Pacific Southwest Engineering Development!

No timetable. No routes. No employment opportunities. Wonderful website with just investor relations.

No thanks I'll invest my money collecting SC's and FF points.

A web site with nothing about the actual business but all about 'investor relations' screams "throw money in pit here'.

The fact they are inviting expressions of interest and haven't even put a prospectus together - well, let's just say you have a better chance of making money buying and selling parcels of the moon.

Yes, it does look a bit deficient in that sort of information but it would have to be deliberate. We got use to seeing what Ozjet were doing but then in the end that might have been to its detriment. I would imagine the website is only making an awareness statement because these things are fairly crtical for competition. Even so, the invitiation of expressions of interest would be enough for an interested party to make contact.

I can't see that you would need a prospsctus unless you were making an offer and they would be very selective with whom they were dealing I suspect.

So I am definetely looking for a change and if this airline is going to bring it, it has my support. Surely they wouldn't need much to get going, crikey, Ozjet proved that.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

 Surely people don't believe that Gold Airways is a serious potential entrant into the Australian aviation market? Based on experience in the setting up and financing of major projects (including the financing of aircraft), I can confidently say that the kind of equity and debt participants needed to finance an airline won't be found by placing a request for EOI on an amateur looking website. I wouldn't go near this company with a ten foot barge pole.

I beg to differ on this. I feel that there is some choice now. When we had only Ansett and Qantas (or one of its predecessors) there was little choice, with almost identical schedules and fares way too high. Compass introduced some real competition but they didn't last. Virgin Blue re-introduced competition and has continued to keep fares low, even after AN collapsed. We all owe them a debt of gratitude, IMhO.

I agree that there is no choice for domestic business class travel. QF are gouging the market simply because they are able to do so. OzJet tried to offer some competiton but failed due to lack of support by the travelling public. Much to my regret. :(
