Excuse the n00b question. But how does one do this? I have zero luck going through Qantas multi city search tool. Even as simple as local flights like SYD-CBR, CBR-MEL.

The trick is to use the multi-city tool to present a stopover on one of the flights rather then enter in each sector as a seperate flight. Using the multi-city we would add four flights;
Flight 1: CBR-MEL, date A
Flight 2: MEL-WLG, date A
Flight 3: WLG-MEL, date B
Flight 4: MEL-CBR, date B

We are then looking to choose the options with a stopover in Sydney for Flights 2 and 3. These may be automatically selected by the multi-city tool or require you to manually select them by clicking the ‘Show all flights’ link.

Once you have found and priced your desired itinerary via the Qantas multi-city tool, head over to AMEX travel and enter in the same flight routing and dates as your Qantas multi-city search. AMEX will present a myriad of options, I had 50 results for my search. Use the filters (departure time and price) to narrow down your search until you find the same itinerary (flight numbers and price) to match your Qantas search.

I hope this helps! I have attached a screenshot of a test Qantas multi-city itinerary. Better flight timings can be found for the same price by clicking the ‘Show all flights’ link for each flight.

I registered on their website this morning with my QFF details - it said "you're in" (well words to that effect) but the email confirmation hasn't come through yet - this happened to anyone else?

Still no confirmation email this morning so I called the (supposed) Plat Line - call went straight through to the Philippines. Explained the situation, that I wanted confirmation before booking a RTW - next thing I know I'm in a queue to ticketing!!

HUACA

Same PH call centre this time someone who knew what I was talking about. She consulted someone offline and then confirmed I WAS NOT REGISTERED !!!

She was really good about it and requested I send through the screenshot so that they can manually apply the promotion to my account.

Gee, QF's IT systems are f*cked.

- System doesn't register this promotion against the account
- IVR doesn't recognize QF number (or at least it doesn't hold it for the CSE / recognition of level)
- Can only apply this promotion through some convoluted manual process

Am about to give the TA the OK to book the RTW for Sep/Oct and will complete some footy trip bookings - but I'm fully expecting to have to manually apply for the DSCs to be applied manually down the track!!

Regards,

BD

Looking at taking advantage of this offer to re-earn my gold tier. A little confused as to how the credits apply with respect to the membership year though. I'm currently a gold with membership year expiry in Feb, I wont have enough SC's to keep gold upon expiry in a few days time. If I use the double SC offer to get back up to 700 SC's in March, I assume I will once again get gold benefits once 700 SC's drop in the account. I was wondering what then happens at Membership Year expiry in Feb 2021 as I would have over 700 SC's in the account, would it mean that I would get another year of gold out to Feb 2022?

You will be gold until Feb 2022

Also you will only need 600 to requalify for Gold, not 700.

As I read this, the double status credits count to attain Platinum one, but not for the bonus things... Yes?

You are correct.

DSC's apply to attain status and go to lifetime status but do NOT count towards earning loyalty bonuses or any of the bonus rewards (eg: 2400, 5000 etc) - those must be "BIS" SC earn.

So the base status credits apply for the loyalty bonus, but not the bonus credits???

That would require the flights to be taken in the year ending in Feb 2020. As the flights are taken in the new year starting March 2020, the full 700 would be needed.

I utilised my AMEX travel credit to book CBR-MEL-SYD-WLG-SYD-MEL-CBR in J (660 SC) for $1650 ($2.50 per SC).
Is there anything similar starting in MEL or would I need to do a positioning flight somewhere before starting a run?

Ah yes. I read the part where Daniel90 said they are currently gold, but will not retain so yes that's right. I was thinking they would still be gold next membership year.

Has anyone previously book flights via Amex travel using a travel credit (the ones that come with the yearly card) and received the double status credits?

Highly recommend finding international I fares with domestic connections that don't have I availability. Amex will automatically move them up into the J bucket so they earn an extra 5-10 SC as Flexible Business, which is then doubled.

I’m guessing that creating a new PNR of a previously booked flight by separating two passengers isn’t going to work? 🥴

It looks like I am visiting MCY briefly so I can maintain gold.
