Gifted 40 SC’s then lost them 20days later

So for a bit of context here, I’m one of many who lost out in the COVID credits debacle. Let’s just say I had $800 worth of credits (not a huge amount to some, but to myself a previously loyal customer it was to me). I was receiving correspondence that my credits were expiring and had to be used by a certain date, so not wanting to lose them, I booked myself a return PER-MEL-PER on QF10/QF9 flying on the Dreamliner. Not long after booking these flights, QF crumbled to Govt and public pressure and AJ announced that all credits can now be refunded in full and expiry periods were waived. So fantastic I thought, I contacted a QF call centre which was overseas and explained my plight and now wished to CXLD these flights and I opt for a refund, to which I was informed that would be ‘processed’, so when I received the sum of ~$50 in my account I felt right royally shafted and not in a pleasurable way. I tried call QF call centres but like many just eventually gave up and the return phone calls that were promised never materialised.

So let’s fast forward to September 2025 and not having flown on QF metal since the above, I received an email from QF advising that owing to my ‘loyalty’ I was being gifted 40 SC’s which being truthful, I thought was a genuine gesture and felt humbled. I collect the points on my Commbank CC and then transfer to the QFF account monthly.

So today, I thought I’d give QF another opportunity and began searching for some awards flights for a number of upcoming trips. I was a little disheartened (putting it mildly) so discover that the SC’s I was gifted for my loyalty have ‘expired’, around 20 days later and vanished from my account.

Can anyone explain why this might be the case?

Could it be possibly because I’ve:
1) registered with Maurice Blackburn in the class action as my data was breach? So QF have effectively given me the middle finger and taken them away?
2) my membership has reach it’s year end cycle, if this occurs, why give me something to then take it back a few days later, let’s be honest this is just plain spiteful.
3) it is a genuine error by QF them being removed after being credited.

Screenshot attached for reference.

Curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

Definitely nothing to do with the legal actions.

This is due to membership anniversary that you mention where all SC's for the previous 12 months are reset for the new year.
It's just bad luck if thats the case as it's QF's SOP with status credit tracking.

You may be able to get them back if you call but you might need to just accept it's happened.

@Tom/PER Any who had their anniversary within 90 days of the crediting of these SC and hence have them expired can contact Qantas and get them recredited to your new year.
