I’d rate it better than a tent in Sudan for ablutions but worse for sleeping. Why do hermetically sealed hotels insist on putting Arctic-rated coverings on the beds and not having airconditioning that can go to a matching low temperature?

I invariably end up sleeping badly.

The level of form over function and spin raised to an art-form by QF and their ‘designers’ that nobody’s ever heard of comes to mind.:(

Up at sparrow’s today to fly OAX-xMEX-TGZ. Interjet whY-only bird. I was really impressed with the legroom - the best I can recall. I’m fairly tall and my knees were nowhere near touching the back of the seat in front.

Our guide’s opinion is that Interjet is the best Mexican airline. Hard to disagree with that.

Now in MEX. Blazing fast free WiFi in the terminal but 30 min limit.

Righto righto I'm finally catching up :) been struggling with time and lack of WiFi but I'm back for a bit !! This looks like an absolute cracker of a trip

Awesome part of Mexico, getting ready to see some good stuff.

The detail will be when I get back home in October... Just a few bits and pieces as I go along.

Most of the photos are on my camera and are too big in native format for comfortable display.

That's where a good phone camera and the AFF app come in handy ..... but I'm a very patient person :D

As long as I take my little travel computer I have no problem.picasa still works for me so on a plane or hotel download my pics and resize. Can then easily upload from My pictures.

I typically travel with an iPad which is more clunky than my dual-screen desktop PC for sorting and resizing photos from my camera. I prefer to post a few snippets from my phone camera while on the road and save the main TR posting until I get home and can better sort through everything.

I also don’t want to be spending large amounts of time doing it while on the road, and periodic large gaps in communications (eg. I’ll be in Cuba next week and two weeks on board a vessel in the Arctic in a few weeks) imposes further limitations.

Phone pics, because of the absence of digital zoom, are poor for distant shots - and of course particularly poor for wildlife.

After I get home, I construct my TRs in Word and use the Snipping Tool to make smaller images that load super-fast. The Word document also then serves as my ‘personal TR’.

Just my little system that suits all my needs. :)

As always, the best system is the one that works for oneself. Enjoy both your TRs, and having done a couple in the past agree with JohnM that it doesn't always fit easy into a trip schedule.

Dinner at the outside garden restaurant at the Hotel Nacional De Cuba where I’m staying. A Havana historic icon.

A very plump grilled lobster - 40CUC (Cuban convertible pesos - basically pegged at 1/USD). By far the most costly item on the menu. A Western Rock Lobster that size in Perth would probably be $150 - if you could get one that big.

Wine selection was basic, at least in this more casual restaurant of about three. I went for a Chilean white blend that worked as an aperitif and with food. There were four Australian wines on their list - two white, two red, all entry level.

Hauling out of CUN this morning and some pics on the indirect way back to LOTFAP. Go to Cuba as a tourist and you cannot fly directly back to the US. As I recently saw expressed: ‘The US obsession with Cuba has become a psychosis.’
