Future of QF27/28 travel post covid

Thanks. A good source of mine who worked for Air NZ told us that Air NZ had plans to cancel the AKL-EZE route before covid due to not filling enough business class seats.

I wonder if they thought of releasing award inventory to partner airlines? That might have helped fill a few seats...

(Oh wait, it's Air NZ we're talking about 😝)

Slightly off topic, but hoping someone might have information. I am booked on LA801 SCL>SYD on June 23. I was wanting to move my date forward to June 19, however, the flight is sold out. When I checked Google Flights, the flight on the 19th is still bookable, but only with a QF codeshare number, but not as LA801. I paid for the ticket via LATAM, but it's refundable, though QF won't let me book it as the website says something about not allowing bookings from Chile currently.

I have a vague recollection that LA/QF have an allocated amount of seats each on the plane, or am I making that up? Is LA sold out of its seating allocation, but QF still has seats for its allocation?

I am so hesitant to fly with them. Plus their website is cr4p cos I couldn't make my credit card work twice and then read in forums and FB pages that this is a common issue with international credit cards. It doesn't inspire confidence! But thanks for the info. Something to take into account!
This is very common in Chile. I have lived here for the past 5 years and it's very difficult to pay online for anything with an international card. Sometimes I have been able to do it with LATAM in the past, other times not.

My most recent booking SCL>SYD, it would not allow me to use my international card, only my local credit card.

I see. This now makes sense. I missed the flights now and unless I book with a travel agent (and a. their prices differ and b. I don't fully trust them if something goes wrong) I can't really book tickets to Argentina. How is it possible that in 2022 we've gone backwards 40 years?

So wondering what peoples thoughts are on this. I'm currently booked to fly on QF3877/LA800 to Santiago on Monday 17th October. Latam is currently only flying this route on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Qantas are starting QF27/28 up a few weeks later. My return flight is on a Saturday on QF3876/LA801 which is currently running and both legs in J.
Given QF27/28 won't start til halfway through my trip and given Latam are not currently flying on the day I have a booking, I'm thinking that flight won't happen. I can't see them increasing flights when Qantas are satring up flights again for the peak season. Should I call and try and move it now to the Sunday or Wednesday? Or just trust that I'll be moved and still be in J and everything will be fine :)
On top of this I am going on a ship from Valparaiso to Antarctica and back to Ushaia and that ship leaves on the Saturday, so Wednesday flight is fine, previous Sunday flight is fine, but don't think the Friday flight gets me there soon enough.
Now I've written this down, I reckon i call sooner rather than later!

From July LA800 flies from SYD on Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri, Sun and LA801 from SCL Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun

Good news!!! I searched for something on this and found nothing The flights look fairly busy now. I might wait to see if they resume July 2nd as suggested, before worrying again. If they do everything will be fine! I got J for just over $4k and even though there are free flight changes I just know i'd be hit with a fare difference if I changed it..... I've flown this route in economy far too many times to risk doing it again.

Just got hit with a paid with cash J to Y downgrade on LA800, leaving in less than 48h with a toddler. Offered a ridiculous refund of $700. Thanks Qantas, never again.

Were you booked on the Qantas codeshare?

$700 is pathetic for paid cash fare. The fare difference would be well in excess of that.

This component should just be the 'compensation', not the fare differential.
I understand blockspace codeshares, but 48hrs out being notified seems odd, especially with QF dealing with it? Maybe an aircraft change if LA have different versions?

Does not seem to be an aircraft change, still showing 787-9. Btw, 3 pax, all moved out. Not sure who is at fault, but how Qantas is dealing with it is atrocious.

I'm going to swap all my points for gift cards or any other garbage deal they have and that's it, never again.

This is shocking, although given many of our experiences it shouldn't surprise but the fact that these stuff ups keep happening after so many months is truly disgusting. Hope all goes well from now on, keep us posted.

And it gets worse. To re-issue the LA800 ticket on Y there is a new problem: a connection that is 1h50m must be at least 2h for the "system" to allow the new ticket. Solution: move another flight. Guess what? There is no J available on that flight too, so now they are taking down another J leg for peanuts.

They are determined to get the absolute maximum profit no matter what, sell overbooked J, throw customers on Y and keep the money.

This is beyond imagination.

Now because the earlier flight needs to be downgraded as there is no availability on J to make the 2h connection time requirement in SYD, I'm not entitled to any refunds on the LA-800 J to Y downgrade which is the next connecting leg. This is probably how they fund their CEO bonus.

They do this on purpose at the last minute so people have to accept this BS or mess up all their plans.

I honestly don't know what your rights as a consumer are, but surely you'd be entitled to more than $700 or a fairer deal? I really would like to know what can we do as consumers. It's not acceptable. So sorry you have to go through this!
