Are Qantas members going to be invited by Qantas separately? I have not received an email from Qantas yet.
Patience….it has only just been announced. An email will likely follow in due course.
(It has to, because not everyone reads AFF and even those may not have picked up the announcement yet.)

We haven’t said they are unable to earn points. Various ways of earning points have already been mentioned.

That doesn’t help with earning status credits though, so overseas members still have their collective fingers crossed for another status extension.
If they fly with a OneWorld airline they will earn status credits as well.
Some of the business sale fares on Finnair or Iberia can be a very cheap way to earn QF SCs.
Especially as many flights are routed via their respective hubs (HEL & MAD) so you get two flights and effectively double the SCs at the same fare.
Also the post I was replying to was specifically about avoiding points expiry, not earning status credits.
So clearly someone did imply that they were unable to earn points.

Yes, threads do tend to cross over a bit when related information is also mentioned and discussed. As travel within Europe is much more open now, your information on flights and SC is very helpful.

Via the status match promotion, I hit gold recently. My current year expires in September, and then I retain gold until next September (2022).
Based on the wording of the press release, looks like I'll be one of the unlucky ones that won't get an extra year or rollover. But I completely agree a line needs to be drawn somewhere, and the fact I managed to even get to gold at all was an unfair advantage compared to those that earned it the hard way.
Will keep an eye on T&Cs with interest, and who knows, there could be a system error in my favour.

No you just have to book the flight and you will get status retention and SC rollovers as per the offer T&C posted on QE web site.

So how are the general public expected to find out? As was posted, not every premium fliyer is an AFF member. This is an example of the advantages of being a member .

PS I am sure there is another thread on Status extensions?

I reckon it is likely QFF will send an email to all if only to promote that they are helping members out. Remember this was only announced yesterday, even though this thread is already into six pages!

The extension was also given a page in “Airline Ratings”, so the message will get out.

Not sure why the general public needs to know. But for anyone with QF status, they can wait for the QF email mail-out, in the fullness of time. 😉.

Edit: Anyway, there are posts along these lines, above. Patience, Grasshopper.

I would presume QF should send an email to eligible members about this. Those of us who aren't... no email. That would make the most sense.

I agree that Joe Public who has status may be interested in knowing.

It may wind up being an item in the next monthly newsletter of course (which many ignore or don't subscribe to I know)

Having read this thread and received the information via AFF I am now planning a status run. I have plenty of time until November 2021 when my current status runs out. Thank you AFFF.

I seem to recall that Joe Public doesn’t have QF status. So, unlikely to be interested, or benefit. 😉.
I think it might be a reference to those not members of AFF.

Given the amount of spam emails QFF send out I think it is safe to say they will send it out in the next few days...

Husband received email , his renewal date is beginning April. He meets the criteria

I havnt received email , renewal date end of Oct . I don't meet the criteria
Mine renews this month, so I'll be extended to Aug 2022 for now and have to wait for all the anomalies to be wrinkled out.

Seems they have done the obvious and smart thing to only email the eligible members. Why upset the masses who don't know (and aren't on FF nerd sites? :) ) with something they're not eligible for and may (some will!) feel annoyed about.

so good job QF (not something I often write to be fair :D )
