But that is probably why I can't find any open threads - it's only for Randy?? Or do you have some acess that I don't have, Dave...

It is still there, last post was about a week ago, so you might need to show replies from more than 5 days ago.

Is everyone travelling?
Have we run out of topics?
FT seems a better bet these days :?

I've been off line for a few days. Now I'm back I've been wondering the same thing :!:

At least two of us are still here.

Redrat,

Another thought :!:

Maybe it's as you suggested. With SARS, wars, terrorism and winter coming on.

Maybe, just maybe, nobody flies any more and so this forum is now redundant :!: :?:

In all seriousness, and with all due respect to Australian Frequent Flyer (and my much stated aim of keeping this site going) I really do think that FlyerTalk is much better value, and people just tend to naturally migrate across to there and stop visitting here.

Which is a pity, this site has the potential to be quite useful. But human nature being what it is, people want to find everything in the one place, which is why FT will probably prevail. :(

Dave

Phew :)
I thoght I was going crazy.
I'm just loading winxp for the third time this week to the laptop that got damaged in a fall & thought there was something wrong with my settings.

One of the reasons I like this site is I'm still getting used to the acronyms used on these type of sites and I can usually guess what they mean when Aussies use them here on this site.

FT could use some of the enhancements that this site uses, ie. clicking on the last post to go to the end of the thread.
FT doesn't really encourage you to do much more than lurk, however I've added about three posts to-date.

And again, although looking at the length of time between posts, I suppose it has been pretty good.

Dave

Was getting DNS errors at 0350 - but only on FT - yet it was fixed by 0600. Go figure...

Dave

Down at the moment.

Saw the warnings, but my head failed to convert the downtimes from US time (whichever coast) to real time (AEST).

Will have to wait until it gets back up, and will have an early night in the meantime.

Just noticed this one.

FT DOES let you amend your display preferences. One of the display preferences I have selected is to show the latest posts FIRST.

So I get the latest reply, first, followed by the post they were responding to, and so on.

Can be a PITA at times, but most of the time it works fairly well.

Dave

FT also allows you to jump to the first unread post in a thread. But you must have cookies enabled so it can keep track of what you have and have not read.

And even though FT may be back up, it is still as slow as ever. Can read and post much faster here .... just not the volume to read or post  .

poor FT... looking at their errors i experienced the same load problems yesterday ;\

* FlyerTalk Downtime Notice *

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We will be taking the FlyerTalk site offline this Friday, September 24th beginning at 9am ET to replace hardware.

We expect to remain offline until 5pm ET, but we'll bring things up sooner if we're able to.

Thank you for your patience during this time and for your continued patronage of our site.

Is anyone else having problems logging onto Flyertalk? I've been trying for the last two days and can't get any link to work from google or via my flyertalk bookmarks.

If it's my PC I don't understand why all other sites seem to be working fine for me right now...
