PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hi brains trust, am planning travel in June and deciding if to come home from SIN to SYD on the A380 (QF2) or the A330 (QF82), with view to which flight would give better upgrade request. Obviously the A380 has way more premium seats but it carries all the ex-LHR traffic.
So can I please get the loads checked for the below dates:
Depart SIN Wednesday 14 June, Arrive SYD Thursday 15 June, QF2 and QF82 please.
Can I also please get the outbound flight loads checked too:
Depart SYD Sunday 4 June, Arrive BKK Sunday 4 June, QF23
Many thanks in advance.

Interesting question. I’d be tending towards the 82 at this time

Thank you so very much, this is great.
Why would you be trending towards the 82? Would it be because W looks full on QF2 and there would likely be quite a lot of upgrade requests from those pax? Or also because Y looks more full on QF2 compared to QF82 so more competition for upgrades?
QF82 is also $70 per pax cheaper than QF2 as QF still seems to be charging their "A380 premium" for Y seats.

Yes I was thinking a higher proportion of higher status pax and some W to J upgrades on QF2 with potential for further J tickets coming from Europe. All supposition, would be interesting to see historical data on actual revenue seats on each

Great minds think alike. And hopefully on the 82, there are some more holidaymakers and visiting friends and family traffic, and hopefully some are lower status pax. I think I will pick the 82.

No problem - that's what this forum is for! If anything, it looks to be a little lighter than last time we checked. I'd give you a seat map as well, but not available for this flight (JQ?)

Cheers,
Matt.
Hi Matt,
If at all possible could I please get one last check on Economy numbers for Friday if available. Completely fine if you don't have capacity.
Cheers

I'm going to book a return QF MEL-LHR Y fare for my niece, going +/- a couple of days 25 Sep-21 Dec. I want to maximise her chances of getting an upgrade to J on one or both ways with my P1 status. (Yes, Christmas is probably chockers.)

Does it make much of a difference which flights I book, whether it's QF37 to SIN and then QF1 to LHR, or QF35+QF1, or going to SYD domestically and then QF1 the rest of the way? I'd think the chances of an upgrade on QF9 are low, so consigning her to Y all the way PER-LHR seems like torture.

I'm not familiar with the intricacies of fare buckets, so any plain English translation of chances would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you are travelling with your niece, I'm not sure how your status will help her get an upgrade. I've only ever booked flights for family online and it has always reverted to their Bronze or Silver status. Maybe booking via the VIP team is different? I've never tried.

But to answer your question I reckon (very unscientifically) you'd have a better upgrade chance on the larger craft with more fare classes. Impossible to tell this far out though.

Book her all the way in J and hope she looks after you in the future.

Thanks, I was planning to use the benefit of 'Use your points to request a Classic Upgrade Reward for an eligible family member and it will be reviewed and, if successful, processed at the Platinum One priority level, even if you're not travelling.' I won't be travelling with her - reading that benefit I assumed I could use the 'Upgrade a family member' link on my account, and not have to go through the VIP team.

Was not aware of that! Might be worth doing it through the VIP team anyway to make sure - I've had some good interactions with them this past fortnight. QF1 outbound at least would still seem sensible - F upgrades should keep the J cabin open for P1 equivalent upgrades. Probably the case on the return too. But again, all assumptions on my part.
