PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

You may want to ask for loadings for the SIN-LHR leg as well as some of the passengers may only be flying as far as SIN. Though even if so the chances of an upgrade for SIN-LHR are probably slim with those loadings for the whole way.

I would appreciate an update on the loadings for QF1 on 28 Jun for SYD-LHR and also for the SIN-LHR leg which is also scheduled to depart on 28 Jun. Thanks. I’ve booked an extra leg room seat which is something at least if the upgrade doesn’t come through.

Thanks. I guess it looks like my points balance is probably going up this trip unless the flight loadings are very different for my flights back late July or there are a bunch of no shows.

When the DSC promo was on there wasn’t a sale to LHR and the J prices were ridiculous so I decided to try for an upgrade instead, but it was always going to be a long shot to try to get an upgrade at this time of year.

Could someone help with the loading of QF81 SYD-SIN on 3 July and QF2 SIN-SYD on 6 July please? Currently on Y hoping for upgradable seats in J. TIA.

Hello, can I please have someone check QF11 23/07 SYD-LAX for me?
I suspect it wont show much but am curious if anyone knows what could have happened.
Up until yesterday I was able to get results when searching for the max 9 pax in business and economy on the Qantas website. Now 0 results come up in economy on even 1 pax, and nothing above 3 pax in business. Is it usual for availability to drop that quick? Thanks!

Wow, I suspected it based off what I could search on Qantas but totally surprised by the sudden jump. Was extremely hopeful of an upgrade up until yesterday. Guess theres still 3 business seats left 😅

It's a popular time of year to travel. For my trip as a SG, I've booked Flex Y, travelling solo with an upgrade as late as at the gate requested, but on popular routes the chances of an upgrade are low at this time of year. If I get upgraded (looks very unlikely for my outbound flights) I spend some of my points. If I don't get upgraded my points balance will grow making it even more likely that I'll request an upgrade for the next trip.

Literally zero. This will be a fun flight.

Was paged in F lounge and thought it was my lucky day. Turns out they were asking if I’d swap Y seats to let a family sit together. I agreed hoping the karma might be good. Ended up getting an upgrade at the gate to PE. Only middle seats left but better than nothing. I’m counting my lucky stars!

it is strange! i could not see any availability on QF81 SYD to SIN on 3 July and adjacent dates, all fare classes. i can see QF82 coming back from SIN to SYD. QF announce capacity reduction today, any chance they have quietly cancel my flight and would only tell me at the airport?

I would think for international they would give more notice than that if they possibly can.

For domestic they’d seek to send all the planes out full and with several flights a day whilst a cancellation is inconvenient flying an hour later than planned is not as big a deal as flying the next day internationally.

QF’s Capacity reduction is mainly on the domestic routes which already have several flights a day to minimise disruption to passengers.

It is possible that your flight is full being at the start of the SYD school holidays.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the loadings were on the first direct flights to/from Rome were (QF5 and QF6)? Was reported to be full on the way across but I don't know if they could have filled it on the way back.

Interestingly on a free seat map search as SG of the 28th June for SYD-LHR the seatmap shows 6 unselected seats in Business, plus 2 Blocked and 10 unselected + 4 blocked for just the SIN-LHR leg.

So either people flying Business haven't bothered to select their seats (I definitely would have chosen seats and looked for a better seat by now if I'd booked Business, but I guess that's not everybody) or they've oversold economy so much that they won't sell all the Business seats left or a bit of both or the Expert Flyer seatmap is plain wrong.

Interestingly when I try to view the First Class seatmap (to try to see if all the seats in that cabin have been selected to try to get a feel of whether there might be some upgrades from J to F making space in the J cabin) Expert Flyer won't let me view that seatmap.

Looks like they have begun handing out an upgrade or 2 then. In J there are the bassinet seats blocked, and 3 or 4 others. So looks full as, with one or two perhaps getting an upgrade. Good luck.
