PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Yes, there are 4 seats.

How flexible are your plans though? QF759 is a 734 with convertible J seats. If possible I'd go with QF765 which is a 738 - leaves 2 hours later and has 5 U seats available.

(note: availability is to me as a WP. Your mileage may vary).

Thanks! - no flexibility unfortunately so my first QF domestic J experience is not going to the best possible lol

Would concur with Ewing - the converta J seats in the 734 really aren't worth wasting your points on. Save them for another time.

Normally I wouldn't but in this case it's just status credits I'm after...

Unless you're going for a JASA, you won't get any extra status credits. You only earn points/SC's on the originally booked fare unfortunately.

It's a huge waste of points to use on a 734 with a converter seat. They're cough (just get row 4, same seat, less service!)

Can anyone interpret a seat map for QF010 SIN-MEL tonight 4 November? As far as I am aware there are only 2 First Class seats available and all other seats are allocated.

Was not expecting an op-up (although got a little excited when I saw full flight and a couple of days ago most front seats in economy were not pre-allocated) but surprised that in a full aircraft I am still in my originally allocated seat of 40G.

I can also understand that most premium passengers from this morning's A380 QF32 may have been relocated to other flights therefore filling up all cabins on QF010.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Apparently the whole flight was full.

The guy in 41H was downgraded from business class as he was connecting from the FRA-SIN flight to the SIN-MEL flight. There may have been other passengers downgraded.

Full flights are horrible especially when you have tall bulky people sitting in 40F fast asleep with both elbows on armrests (and sticking into my ribs) and shoulders overflowing into 40E and 40G. :(

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi I was hoping that someone could check the loadings for QF6 SIN-SYD 7 April 2011.

It is probably a bit early, but I'm trying to judge if it is worth paying for V for upgrade chances. If J is full then no point really. Also doing it this early as my flight over is on a Monday (QF5 28 March) and it looks like O is disappearing quickly.

thanks

QF6 SIN/SYD 07APR11
J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0 E0

Way too early to be calling either of these; both there and back are showing minimal seating allocations for any premium cabin and 9's all round in premium booking classes (even I class on the way over). Also, as you're flying mid-week I would hazard a guess and slightly lower loadings in premium cabins.

Thanks a lot.
Not sure why I'm being so indecisive on this one. Perhaps because I've gone to Flight Centre for the booking as V can't be done on line, with my connecting domestic flights, and flight centre don't have a $60 assistance fee.

Ohh and just checked QF 5 and 6 don't even show for a classic award.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

i guess you should not be confused, you have your options and you are lucky that you are planning well in advance.

The confusion was more indecisiveness and in particular whether I wanted to use flight centre, or pay a $60 fee, in order to book a more expensive fare to enter the upgrade lottery on a flight that I can probably handle in Y well enough; or just book it myself online in a cheaper fare class and save the hassle of either a fee or flight centre.

Basically save money and fly economy or spend more, probably lose the upgrade lottery and fly economy. Not much of a choice really. But it is confirmed, I will play the lotto on QF6. ;)

A little early to judge loadings but always handy to know just the same.

Interesting. I am also travelling on 28 March PER-SIN and returning 10 April BKK-SIN-BNE!

I probably arrive a few hours late. But happy to catch up.

I was mainly checking early to try to judge if the cheap economy fares would sell out soon and hence I could book an upgradable online myself.

I think I arrive into SIN at 17:20 and then depart on TG at ~20:30 so would more than likely leave before your flight arrives.

Can't you book Super Saver fares online instead of Sale or Red E-Deal?

Doh! Yep I'm arriving at 2155. Too late to even caveat a departing TG aircraft.

I'm coming from ADL and could only get the desired connections using a multicity booking that was defaulting to sale fares.

Ah yes. The inconsistency in the Qantas website booking engine again.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

i have always heard about airlines giving upgrade and some other website which provide these services. I am just being curious about the motivation of the airlines behind these schemes?

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi

I'm going off on a tangent with this, but slightly on topic. I've just subscribed to EF and I've been having a play for my flight tonight. I noticed something about the fare class availabilities, they have been like this until about 15:30 this afternoon:

QF785 SYD ADL 11/11/10 20:45 73H

J5 D3 I1 Y2 B0 H2 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

But have now changed to:

J8 D4 I2 Y9 B0 H9 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

I also noticed that the seat plan no longer has people sitting in J seats.

Does this bode well for potential op-up opportunities? Would it be that the J cabin is completely empty and so they have release Y fares to try to fill the aircraft?

Really I'm just trying to get a feel for things. In terms of my seating allocation it has been interesting to watch the seat map change. I have been able to jump into 4B/E number of times, but I have firmly resisted in the hope that 4D/F become unblocked. Probably a stupid move, but I can handle row 6. ;)

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. cheers
