PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: QF11 Load Question

Two of us are taking QF1 SYD-LHR on Sunday (two days away) and we've got a points upgrade request in. Here are the loadings. I'm QF WP and partner is QF SG. I hope this means we'll be upgraded to Business!

F8 A8 P0 J9 C9 D4 I1 U0 W2 R1 T0 Z0 Y9B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V0 S9 N0 Q9 O0 G0 X9E0

Looks like there are some spare seats on that flight, fingers crossed!

Hi All,

New here - just wondering if someone could tell me the upgrade likelihood of QF6 on Monday 29th October. I have put in a request.

Thanks

Re: QF11 Load Question

From KVS:

QF 11 SYD 14:05 LAX 09:45 388 F4 A2 P0 J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 W9 R9 T9 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X7 E0

Looks like there's plenty of availability in J, W and Y

This was the post I was looking for

So by reading that link I think this basically says it is not a fully loaded plane and upgrade chances are higher (based on that alone not staus etc)

My fare was a special sale deal for PE, I requested points upgrade to Bus.

Thanks

Sitting in LA after great flight, both got Business points upgrades, notified 24 hours in advance too!
Visited 3 Qantas Clubs in 7 hours as well.
There were still a dozen or so empty seats in Business. I had one window, friend had the other in same row, but we sat together and talked a lot, then would go back to our own sides and watch movies and sleep. Great service, no waiting for drinks, food or toilets, everything worked as it was supposed to. Then we were quick off the plane and breezed through LAX immigration in about 10 minutes, compared to over 3 hours for my last trip.
Weather in LA is perfect as well.
Great start to trip.

FRA-SIN is showing
J8 C7 D0 I0 W5 R4 T5 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L4 S4 G0 E0

and SIN-SYD is showing
J9 C9 D9 I9 W5 R2 T1 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L7 S8 N2 O2 G0 X3 E0

I am still learning how to interpret this, but think you may have a chance on both legs, with SIN-SYD more likely.

An update at T-48 (when all the WPs get upgraded):

F8 A8 P0 J8 C8 D0 I0 U0 W3 R0 T0 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V0 S9 N0 Q9 O0 G0 X9 E0

Seems I might not be getting an upgrade after all - the Discount Business fare buckets are slipping away, so my guess is I'll be in Y. Although do things change rapidly right up until boarding?

Re: QF11 Load Question

Flying QF107 from SYD to JFK on Saturday 3rd November. Keen to hear upgrade likelihood for myself (Gold) and wife (Bronze) from Economy to Business. While we are not on the same booking, the bookings are "linked" according to Qantas. Keen to hear of availability and whether "linked" bookings mean that my wife will benefit from my Gold status? Many thanks in advance!

Re: QF11 Load Question

Interesting. Yesterday morning was showing:
F/6 A/3 P/0 J/9 C/9 D/9 I/0 U/0 W/5 R/2 T/0 Z/0 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/9 Q/9 O/9 G/0 X/2 E/0

Now this morning there are extra I/3 seats... Would this mean that someone has canceled their I seats or that Qantas have just made 3 cheaper Business seats available for purchase?

Both probably. There are more seats in PE as well.

looks ok, did you put an upgrade request in or just hoping for a freebie?

you could try wedging the CL door shut also just as boarding gets underway :)

Re: Chances of Op Up?

Was hoping for a freebie :)

I see there are quite alot of WP only seats still open and not selected, so fingers crossed there are minimal CL and WP1...

Usually do they op up both pax on the PNR? Or only the WP? SWMBO is only NB

If it's on the one PNR then everyone gets upgraded. If it's just linked bookings then only the ones they choose (eg: WP) get upgraded.

Let us know how you get on!

Cheers for that, will be my first op up if i get it (sin-kul) on jal yonks ago doesnt really count. Still 6 wks away, will definately advise on what happens!

Does anyone have any updates on flight loadings etc. for this flight? Cheers!

Re: QF 107 3rd November (SYD-JFK)

My understanding of International upgrade requests for WP is that they may be processed up to 48 hours in advance.

I'm on QF11 on Saturday so its now under 48 hours and while I'm not expecting the confirmed upgrade to have come through(though that would be nice) I thought I might have seen the wait listed upgrade show up at T-48?

On my Qantas booking it has this note:
Note:An upgrade to Business is requested. Status of upgrade will be shown 5 hours before departure.

What are other WP experiences with International upgrades and notification, is it generally close to T-48 or closer to T-5 or just somewhere randomly in between there?

Re: QF 107 3rd November (SYD-JFK)

QF Helpdesk is saying their is no avalibilty for S class for SYD - HKG - LHR on 15/11 where as EF is... Not sure if QF guy is correct or not...

Was looking at doing QF127 and then either BA26 or BA28 for the fun lounge crawl in HKG....

Update: He's found S class availability by 'putting his UK hat on' which is entertaining but whatever.
