PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Thanks. Looks like I’m going Y then :(
Update : Y to J upgrade successful at, I’m assuming, T-30 on QF68 17/09. Looking forward to this flight :)

Edit : Something weird is happening to my booking now. The BLR-SYD leg now shows Business (U) and the number of status credits & points earned for this leg is essentially 0. The booking page shows a text "If applicable, Qantas Points and/or Status Credits will be added to your account*"

I think the QF system assumes that this is a classic reward J leg, rather a paid Flex Y leg, upgraded to J using QF points. Will this affect my final points & credits earn for this trip?

Well done on the upgrade!

You shouldn’t have any issues with the flight crediting as booked. QF is just stating you won’t be getting J SCs for a Y ticket that was upgraded using points.

Cheers,
Matt.

Yea, that’s what I thought as well. But I have seen this wording for classic rewards bookings so I was a bit unsure. Thanks for the clarification, @dairyfloss

Can I request for guesswork / fuzzy logic for two options, please? It'll be SYD - LHRx - HEL return on QF & AY.

For option 1, ExpertFlyer shows zero award availability but what's your gut feel for whether the loads looks like award seats might open up (for a QFF SG / OWS)? I haven't really played this award upgrade game yet so lack the feel for probabilities.

Option 1
23/11/22 SYD-SIN QF81 / SIN-LHR QF1 / LHR-HEL QF3805 (AY) - Looking for PE or J upgrade for the long leg on QF1.
9/12/22 HEL-LHR QF3810 (AY) / LHR-SYD QF2 - Looking for PE/J upgrade on QF2 (end to end).

Option 2
16/11/22 SYD-LHR QF1 / LHR-HEL QF3805 (AY) - PE/J upgrade on QF1.
2/12/22 HEL-LHR QF3810 (AY) / LHR-SYD QF2 - Looking for PE/J upgrade on QF2.

So, would my guess be on the right track if it looks like on 16/11 outbound has the best chance of getting something? Plenty of availability in both PE and J = if any releases come through it might on that flight.
On all other flights, the PE / J loads are pretty identical and on 9/12 return the Y availability is starting get skinnier which might mean more queue for any potential upgrades and perhaps less appetite for QF to release any seats.

--> The optimistic ones among us might try their luck on the 16/11 & 2/12 pair with some remote chance of success on the outbound. Right?

There are others more experienced than me on this subject, but when I am looking, it is the depth of seats in the fare buckets I look for. For example J9 C8 D8 I0 has been viewed as a better prospect than J9 C0 D0 I0 for an upgrade. But given the current market conditions, and the fact that QF have been running very full flights on key international routes, I would have to conclude that status is 90%+ influence when handing out upgrades.

Can someone please check loading

- 24/09 SQ709 BKK-SIN
- 24/09 SQ235 SIN-BNE

Had vacant seat next to me on both flights until a couple of days ago.

Hi all, hoping a plat QF Member can help me check on some availability last week of August / 1st week of September from either:
MCO (Orlando) - PER (Perth)
ORD (Chicago) - PER (Perth)

I can only see Emirates flights back up to mid August as a lowly Bronze.

It's nothing to do with being QF Platinum. It's whether you have an ExpertFlyer subscription.

You are asking a fair bit. EF allows searches +/- 3 days.

Here's an example of what EF returns:

To fully answer your request would require quite a lot of work to post all options.

I suspect OP refers to reward seat availability (so U and X inventory) rather than seat availability.

Yes, I completely get that but OP might struggle with the detailed screenshots as opposed what the Qantas MultiCity Tool matrix would show applied for August when logged in as Platinum (ie a few red, bronze, gold etc for every now and then).

Ahhh - gotcha. 👍
