IF you've left the door open while peeing, if you listen to music while they try to talk to you or if you've tried to grab a seat in the crew rest area – then flight attendants hate you.

Flight attendants from around the world have broken their silence to reveal the things that passengers do that really gets under their skin.

I am sure we have all seen most of these things, but of course none of us would ever admit to being the perpetrators :rolleyes:

I don't think I'd ever want to leave the toilet door open while peeing. However, this one:

You complain about the overhead bin being full and make a fuss about having to put your bag in the rows behind.

“Passengers who get annoyed about the overhead bins near their seats being full, and then say the word “ridiculous”, are so annoying,” Mrs Poole said.

If the cabin crew made sure that at the end of the flight, bags located a few rows behind yourself were given to you, instead of you having to wait till everyone else has left and filled up the immigration and customs lines, I'm sure passengers would be much more willing to oblige.

The fact that as soon as the airline stops, everyone gets up and blocks said passenger from getting to his bags, without waiting for everyone else to leave first, is really annoying, and some people do have meetings to get to etc. Iy is the nature of the airline industry though.

I'd be much happier to locate my bag closer to the front if I couldn't have it above me. But that's my rant. It's not so black and white.

Oh and:

You could complain to the end of time about passengers making a scene. But when you pay upwards of $10,000 (usually) for a first class ticket, I'd think having a full range of yoghurt flavours wouldn't be unrealistic. It's probably the easiest thing to do.

Haha. Of course I should have seen this coming.

Every QFF can set whether they'd like window or aisle, upper or lower deck, front or back. How far away are we from setting real preferences, right down to (in premium classes) your favourite breakfast drink, yoghurt or cereal?

The range that includes the flavours I like :)

I would have thought that one thing a flight attendant would dislike most is being called a "hostie" - a term the "journalist" used in the article.

But that thing about taking your headphones off has got me worried. Maybe I am a bad traveler in the eyes of many FAs?

I don't listen to music on planes through the supplied sound system, but I have been known to watch a movie or five. And one of the things I dislike the most is when the flight attendant insists on talking to me when it suits him/her rather than when I am ready to take my headphones off. Some even seem a bit frustrated that I have to hold up a finger (in a nice way) indicating that I would like them to wait while I find the pause button so I don't miss a critical part of the film.

If I was in whY then I probably wouldn't mind (the flight attendant, that is - I would mind being in whY for sure) but in J or F I think the FAs should be more like waiters in good restaurants - they should sort of hover nearby to get your attention and when you finish talking to your dinner date (or find the pause button on the in-flight controls) they should approach to speak to you. I can't stand it when waiters/flight attendants think they are more important than what you are saying/doing.

Well I certainly wouldn't want to serve you.

Is it so hard to see the FA's serving refreshments to each passenger in turn and asking them their meal and drink preference? What if every single passenger held up a finger in the oh so polite manner you refered to and then waited for just the right moment so they didn't miss that hilarious Jim Carey gag? You would be lucky to get a single service complete on anything less than a long-haul flight. If it was me serving I would return your polite gesture and then serve the rest of the plane before coming back to drop the last stale bread roll on your tray with a bottle of water. Career limiting perhaps, but very satisfying.

Gonna disagree with you here...I think a pax should be prompt to respond to the FA's inquiry. Rude - even if unintentional - and unnecessarily time consuming to do otherwise. If there is a pause button, there is a rewind button, so you can go back and rewatch if necessary after the FA has moved on.
 
I confess I am guilty of searching for storage space in front of where I am sitting if the overhead bin is full although I do not use the word ridiculous. Most of the time one of the cabin crew comes over to assist anyway.

I am also guilty of stepping into the galley if I need something and there are no cabin crew around. I did not realise I needed permission to enter the galley. Next time I will ask for permission

Neither did I. I can't recall seeing any signs that said crew only. And I've never been told to leave the area, though don't often stay for long.

In Y - yes. But I tend to disagree with your as relates to the J and F cabin. There are degrees - waiting for someone a few secs to find the pause button, I don't think is an issue. In fact most of the flight attendants operating in F/J cabins on most airlines have this down to a fine art. On the other hand completely ignoring the FA as suggested in the original article, is just plain rude.
