Flight Attendant's list of WPs

One additional thing that isn't mentioned here, is that quite often the CSM will come to greet WP's and higher, just with an introduction and a "if there's anything I can do, let me know." I haven't managed to figure out what there is that I could/would ask the CSM for, that I wouldn't just ask of the regular FA.

As far as WP "perks" in Y besides seating preference - a few times time while seated in the upper deck economy on an A380, I was offered the use of noise-cancelling headphones from business/prem, along with others - I think it was offered to all the WP's in that section. On my most recent A380 flight however, seated in almost exactly the same seat, this wasn't offered and I did ask the FA if I could use one, some time after takeoff. I was hit with a flabbergasted, "Oh we couldn't possibly take something from another cabin to Economy, I'm sorry." I could have expected this was an as-available perk, i.e. obviously I wouldn't get a chance at this if Prem-Y was full. But it was odd the way I was treated just for asking. So I guess this shows that this kind of thing is really at the discretion of the FA's.

I don't recall ever being asked for my meal preference in advance, although often I use the pre-order system anyway, which results in it being delivered early anyway. I do recommend this to all flyers actually.

Quite often I get this from the CSM, after we have begun our descent. I have plenty of things they could have done for me, had they not been about to clear the cabin.

Perhaps next time I should say: "Yes. Please ask the Captain to take her back up, do a few holding patterns, while you grab me a couple of glasses of wine."

The inconsistency is evident as a received a similar greeting from a CSM on QF29 a few weeks back.

I'm just SG.

The flight was delayed 4 hours, maybe there was an concerted effort by the crew to go around and 'be nice' to SG and above.

On a trans-tasman flight, I've once seen them offer one of the business class amenities kits as part of the personalised greeting.

I found a simple approach uttered discretely.

"If it's OK, I would not mind some 'pointy end' bubbles" - never been denied.

In fact, last few times, it was like they expected it. Must be on file and reviewable on their iPad".

From a conversation with a FA offline I was told that word from the top is to cut back from giving those in Y products from J and W so don't expect much moving forward if you are a Y travller. This is to preserve the integrity of premium cabins apparently.

I already retorted that we get penalised on SC count and hard product of Y to J is incomparable but thats the word on the street. He also mentioned on an A380 he doesnt see the IPAD so dont expect much from those actually serving you.

In conclusion I feel sorry for those who have to fly Y and cant wait to start crediting to BA in a few years as pointy end benefits may dry up very soon.

I think a number of CSMs got this memo ages ago. I had a few Y flights first months of this year where the J cabin was extremely well looked after but this P1 got absolutely nothing sitting in row 4 of a 737 or 717 (including flights sitting on the tarmac for close to an hour). A big reason why I've obtained VA Platinum in the meantime.

I know "white wine" is in my iPad details but I'm always offered red. I guess it's the thought that counts, or maybe the wine note in my profile means "don't serve him any more white wine" ?

Most of my recent domestic flying has been before the sun was over the yardarm so I haven't been inclined anyways.

On a previous flight which was first I had requested they make sure my pj size was onboard. This was shortly after the person disembarked when his pj size was not available
The first lounge handed me a bag with my pjs in it to ease my concerns
Not sure if it has stuck on my record but appears so as I had pjs in my size on the latest flight when I boarded on my seat
No one else on the BNE to LAX had them pre boarding

Completely agree. On all of my recent Y flights I have received absolutely nothing, 50-50 on the greeting at the door.
Haven’t gone back to VA yet though :D

My last long haul Y flight was on QF8 in the first quarter of the year. I did receive my bubbles to my 36F seat.

To be clear the Y flights I mentioned were all domestic. I'd hope international long haul would be better. I haven't flown QF Y international (other than JetConnect) for many years.

LOL.

On my recent lack of greeting flight both Platinums either side got the "If there's anything I can get you...." speech.

What time were the flights? Amenity kits are only provided (usually) on evening and overnight services. Never breakfast / lunchtime flights.
