Hostess and Ralph Fiennes in mile high sex claim

    February 11, 2007 12:00am

A QANTAS flight attendant faces the sack after being accused of having sex with British actor Ralph Fiennes in an aircraft toilet while flying from Australia to India.

Sydney-based Lisa Robertson, 38, met the star of The English Patient while working in the business-class cabin on flight QF 123 from Darwin to Mumbai on January 24.
In a confidential report to Qantas management obtained by The Sunday Telegraph, Ms Robertson is accused of chatting to Fiennes during the flight and being seen exiting the same toilet moments apart.
She claims Fiennes, 44, became "amorous" towards her in the toilet.
Ms Robertson declined to comment when contacted by The Sunday Telegraph.
Qantas staff who were aware of the incident said last night the couple were caught after crew members waited outside the toilet.
In a statement lodged with her employer, Ms Robertson denied the allegations.

Seems a difficult one to prove, and is just going to be one persons word against another.

Well it would be quite hard for her.

When her employer asks her, she would have to explain that Fiennes followed her in and she told him to get lost.

But when all her friends ask her what happened, .... ;)

I just wonder how anybody apart from the seriously vertically challenged could even contemplate a legover is such cramped spaces.

From what some people I know claim, this sort of thing happens on just about every flight! While that is no doubt an exaggeration, they did establish a club for it after all. ;)

To my mind, as no passenger was apparently inconvenienced or offended, it ain't a sacking matter. However, because the Press has now leaked the details of the FA concerned, QF are under pressure. The leaking of the details of an essentially internal matter and the gutter press printing them are the only "crime" committed.

Yup, been trying for years to join the club ;) and no not with the staff. Problem is my girlfriend just doesn't seem to think its a great idea, me well just to say i have done it, why not ! :D

Do you really think a staff member would be that stupid ?? she isn't 15, she is 38 ! then again maybe it was a nothing to loose attitude.

I am absolutely appalled by News Ltd's handling of this issue.

The journalists (if they can be called that) have reported this in a totally incorrect way. I also believe they may have breached the Journalist's code of ethics in the reporting of this material.

I feel sorry for the FA involved. She should not be tried by media. She should be tried according to Qantas internal disciplinary action and given a chance to refute and debate the allegations levied at her in a closed environment.

The posting of personal information that has been leaked (including her statement to Qantas) is disgusting. I am appalled that the editor's at News Limited allowed this to occur.

I am tempted to file a complaint with the Australian Press Council regarding this article. Someone in Qantas or the FAA or MAM leaked these private details, and they should be tracked down by their respective management and disciplined strongly.

Other media handled the same incident better.

I can confirm that it is very easy to fit two people in the lavs. In the interest of research invited a friend into the lav and we mocked various positions that are easily taken up within the confined space. You can certainly get the job done.

You may like to know on some lav configurations it is possible to both enter and exit from seperate lavs completing removing the risk getting caught (but that's half the fun!!) :D

I concur with you there my friend.

Especially in the J (and I can imagine the A) lavs, it is easy to fit two people. And we're not talking about stick figures either.

I fit in the Y lav but a second not so easily (she needed to get to hop on the seat). But I am larger than usual. (No chance in a Dash 8 lav!)

In addition, I'm surprised that even if she did what she..."did"...that she didn't do a better job getting away with it. Don't you think it is rather unusual that she went in first and then him second? What's with that? It would not be so conspicuous if she went in after him.

For the record, I can vouch that:
    1) It is easy to get in.
    2) It is easy to do it.
    3) It is easy to get out.
    4) You don't need anything even close to an invisibility cloak to do it. Just a good move and a look on your face.

Then again, I got away easily but many people say I look very "believable" and incapable of doing "wrong"...

    Aren't I so innocent? :oops::D

I would also like to state for the record that I have not had sex with Ralph Fiennes in a plane, or anywhere else for that matter. I was not on that plane. He did not follow me into a toilet. Nothing happened.

Anyone else here deny having sex with Fiennes?

I thought this topic had been covered under "Qantas Inflight Entertainment System" but was wrong. On a more Serious note, I too believe the FA is being treated unfairly or "guilty by media". There is no evidence she enticed the pax into the WC, and no evidence that they had sex. I believe the only evidence is that another FA (or pax) saw Fiennes leaving the WC, and it is possible he followed her into the WC (as alleged) and she rejected his advances. In any event she has been found guilty by media and her career with QF is stuffed.

You will never change the prurience of the masses. Given that, it is unlikely the media will change because it's in their interest to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Many have tried but none succeed. One can only hope that libel laws aren't relaxed - this will remove about the only constraint on their behaviour.
