Not long back from CNS/DPS/CNS seats in row 13 exit as seats 12 do not reline, seat was hard as a rock, food disgusting, we lasted the 4.5 hour trip, not again.

I did say never again, well daughter and boyfriend wanted to go to Bali so we caved in and booked CNS/DPS/CNS on JQ, now they have broken up, the options were to go or sell tickets with a huge penalty to change names/dates, so thought we can last 4 hours on JQ, even though the food is really awful (we wont eat it) and a bunch of other reasons, so thought no stuff it, so still going for a week. At least we have exit seats. No J seats on these flights all Y and Q lounge is closed at departure time.

JQ is perfectly adequate for a Bali visit. Gets you used to bogans before you land. Not really, we quite enjoyed the experience.

Well yes, didn't know so many existed but they were a sight to see and no probs. at all. We did notice departing DPS they preferred to lay on the floor rather than sit on available seats and we have no idea what they would do without their mobile phones. Getting of the bus to board the flight home was a stampede, us oldies just took our time to enter and sit down.

Anyone travelled in Row 8 twin seats in the exit on A321?
We usually choose front row in JQ Y (& J), but would prefer the two seat row to a three seater.
I don't think there would be a window in the door, but can't confirm that anywhere.
Seats apparently face a crew seat, so door might be like A380 style (no useable window).
The other problem is that aircraft substitution happens and seatmap is different (row 8 then is standard Y config). Risky?

There will be a window in the door, but as you say, perhaps not 'useable' in the sense of a full-sized version.

Thanks. I like to get glimpses of the horizon when landing. Keeps my internal gyroscope from complaining.

A supplier booked me a SYD to MEL flt on JQ! (Company listed on NYSE!)

Haven't travelled JQ for >5 years. Did a 3K flight few years back though.

Need advice regarding:
1) My fare does not include seat allocation but includes baggage. What is the best strategy (apart from paying of course) to increase the likelihood of not getting the middle seat? (Does the JQ system deliberately allocate middle seat to non payers?) Strangely I can OLCI now even though the website says only 2 days prior?

2) I have a checked bag, so similar to 1), is there a point to OLCI? Is there a bag drop queue in SYD? What are the queues like and therefore what time should I allocate for checking in? I could attempt to HLO but I would presume locker space would be quite limited? I am departing 1810 on JQ519.

Thanks

You could wait until T-24 which is when the computer usually allocates seats to everyone. If you’re not happy with your seat you can still pay to change but at that time it is likely that only the more expensive up front seats will still be available.

Paid for 1AB. Had a 'business person' in 1C. Prefer to avoid the free seats further back.

Thought I might post my questions here seeing as we are taking our first international JQ flight

Wondered firstly if there is a premium check in counter and secondly as a Qantas SG, am I able to use it. Unable to check in online

We are flying Y, actually it’s a Y only flight

There is a premium counter - but only for use by Jetstar Business and on flights operating with business. And even then QF status doesn't apply (although at one time - maybe still is? - the very top tiers of QF could use it - like P1 or CL?)

Thanks for the quick response. Will just have to queue like everyone else

Yes - neck pillow is a good idea.

The best seats are those in row 1 on eaither side of the aisle - no one to recline in to you and you can put your cabin bag under your feet after take-off to make yourself a proper leg rest. This makes sleeping easier. After this go for the bulkhead seats in the centre of row 1 (again, because no one can recline in to you)

Otherwise the seats are fairly confined when they are reclined... you can't easily access the aisle for example if you are sitting by the window. I suspect the good setas will have gone by now, but check again at the airport, and again at the gate (in case someone doesn't show up).

The flight is pretty gruelling. The service will be good, and there is champagne. The food is so-so. But it is just a large (premium) economy seat. No way of getting around that on a long overnight flight.

SEAted in row 1 by the window now . At check in was allotted 3 G but they obviously stuffed up as on boarding was told it’s blocked for crew . And was offered 3 D . Crew later said I could take current seat . Thanks for all the info !

3GJ come with a bit of extra legroom and recline and are indeed supposed to be blocked for crew on loonger flights.

Hope you enjoyed 1A - pick of the bunch.

Don't expect too much and you'll be ok.

Get 3K boarding pass for SIN gate C18 departing 20:30. Checked gate on way out of lounge and find its now gateD30.

Go to D30, through security and wait to board when announcement made new time is 22:50 and new gate D48.

This is the reason I left 7 hour transit in SIN next month instead of 2 hour transit.
