Hi all... I decided to cash in some of my QFF points for a SYD-HKG ticket, partly because the Qantas website said that QF127 is an A380 flight. Any advice? I usually fly J, so it'll be my first time in F. Most interested in the spa in the F lounge. Do I have to pre-book? If so, where do I call? Is the F tasting menu available on such a short trip?

First off, very jealous - I hope to do this same trip myself soon!

Secondly, have you got your travel booked on a day the A380 is operating as I believe it's only Thurs-Sun at present (could be wrong though).

The first hosts should call you the day before to arrange spa treatments and whether you want to be met at the kerb.

The only down with QF127 for the "First Service" is no degustation meal, unlike the SIN, LAX flights.

To be honest, I am a bit relieved that there's no degustation. Because if it's there, I'll be v. tempted to order it =) But even being a hat-counting, fine dining restaurant fan, I have never successfully completed a degustation + matching wines without feeling sick at the end!

I'll be flying with someone who only has a Y ticket... can I take them with me to the F check in counter?

It's a Friday flight- according to the Qantas website it's meant to be A380, but of course, being Qantas, this can change in a hurry!

Thx! But what is this kerb thing... how do they know which cab I'll be hopping out of? (silly question, I know *~*)

lmao. You are soooo right. And it'll be a leaky one too, at that... of the variety which capsized off Christmas Island yesterday. =D

Kindly ask the crew if your friend in Y can sneak into your F suite for one or two drinks ;) I know quite a few regular F flyers here frown upon that situation :D however our last A380 flight my girlfriend who was flying in 5A, I was stuck one row behind in Y, seat 50C. I was allowed to duck in for a couple of drinks and a few nibblies, and was advised that I had to leave prior to the formal meal service. I was totally fine with that as any free offerings is above and beyond what I was expecting anyway. A couple of things though; seat 5A and 50C would have been a few metres apart so it was convenient, 5A being the last seat in F so nobody saw me sneak in ;) probably played into my favour, also that we are both WPs so that may have also swayed their decision. [And I got a F ammentiy pack too which I really like, probably the best bag out of the dozen or so packs that I have in the cupboard with its tri-fold easy to see layout].

There is a porter with a trolley who waits at the departures level kerb when you tell them what time you expect to arrive at the airport, just tell your cabbie to roll up next to the guy in the black outfit. (Unlike MEL which has an entrance at the kerb directly into the first check-in area.)

... during the courtesy call the day before, they'll supply you with a telephone number to call as you approach the airport so they are ready for you. (SYD flights)

I think you were very lucky. It's a big no-no - and perhaps a bit unfair on the staff to put them under that pressure.

My advice to the OP: don't push it.

Thx 4 the info!

The F lounge is great, allow plenty of time to get your massage or facial, as you could easily get carried away having drinks and food and then its time to board

Well done. the F suites ae great and the tattinger on the palne is a step up from the champs in the lounge

The stars definitely aligned and more definitely there was no pressure upon the crew to do so. It was a simple request, I was expecting a no in any instance and that would have been that. No hurt feelings at all if I was denied. Besides, I would rather ask politely and get rejected, than to be rejected by not even asking at all. That's life, you make your own luck sometimes, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's just expectations needs to be adjusted in circumstances where you understand what a crew is allowed to do, mine was perfectly set.
