I think RooFlyer is onto something with small group boutique wine tours. A downside though was that RF was not able to taste anything as he was our driver. My heartfelt thanks to RooFlyer for organising this event, it was great to catch up with those I already know and putting more faces to names. All fabulous people to spend a weekend with.

After 2 days of a very busy schedule, we are back in Hobart with the knowledge that this will have been an extremely memorable weekend. Have to day the most memorable will be the lunch we had today at Frogmore Creek Winery and am posting these varied photos to attest to that.
Thank you Malcolm (RooFlyer) - it's been a blast as they say!

I have not long arrived home after adding 847Km's to the ute on the round trip down south - I will add my thanks to everyone else's RooFlyer for the top weekend you put on, and it was great to meet some new AFFers and catch up with some familiar faces.

Yes, and amusing. I am not above reproach!

On a more serious note. I have been thinking about the terrible state that someone has to be the non drinking driver. I could possibly help out by being the driver and eater ....

Maybe..... but more likely just a spelling mistake :oops:

To those that came - thanks for making such a great weekend. I really enjoyed myself, in spite of not doing any tasting; I really valued the expert's comments (and liked that my own favourites were some of the group's favourites too). Its my favourite part of the world and the tucker was great.

Gosh, we were lucky with the weather

As an experimental event, it fulfilled its purpose. A ONE day southern Tas wine tour will be announced for later in the year.

One of the wineries that Rooflyer had planned to visit was Spring Vale but unfortunately it was closed over the weekend.

Last night Mrsmajor and I had dinner at Strahan Village Pub and on the wine list was the 2015 Spring Vale Melrose Pinot Noir. Naturally we had to try it. WOW

What a wine...not a lot of nose but absolutely scrumptious from the first mouthful. Good fruit on the palate, well balanced and the best Pinot I have had in a long time.

It was so good we had another bottle tonight.

It's a pity we could not visit this trip. If you get a chance try this one.

Taste and spit.

Looks like a great weekend, unfortunately we were stuck in Tuscany drinking the local reds
