First scheduled A380 to PER / ADL

Neither strike me as A380 pax-worthy. Excepting diversions, I would probably expect ADL to win with either Emirates or Singapore Airlines flying there in an A380.

But, that is a long, long, long way off.

PER has a pile of infrastructure upgrades (terminal) to do before it will be taking them regularly. Expect that about 2054.

Shirley that's an aggressively optimistic estimate for anything infrastructure-related at PER..? :p

He is serious... and don't call him Shirley ;)

The WA Airports 'Master Plan' keeps changing more times than most people change their underwear. One day Donna, one day!

I'd say PER...
ADL IMHO has only a token number of flights, considering that SYD \ MEL and BNE are all within easy reach, I can't see an airline using an A380

PER on the other hand has a dedicated INT terminal, and it's a long way to go to SYD if it's not on the direct route...

I'd expect a 787 type aircraft well before an A380.

Considering ADL don't have 744's, I can't imagine them upsizing anytime soon.

I wonder if ADL's runway is long enough for a fully loaded A380? Anyone? Would be good just to have more destinations as a start

What kind of aircraft do EK put on PER-DXB flights?

Would it be possible for them to consider sending 388s to PER?

I assume PER isn't built for a 388, however, and this is where the arguments of time frames (or rather, over my dead body ones) as stated by oz_mark et al. are very relevant.

ADL may be popular for conferences, but the poor city just can't get a break when it comes to international connections. QF doesn't give it much at all; the best token flights from ADL are SQ to SIN, MH to KUL and CX to HKG (usu. via MEL). VH-OQA did land at ADL during its showboating days, however. That doesn't mean it could accommodate a fully loaded 388 taking off, however; also, they say that ADL is supposed to be able to accommodate one of the Bloatbuses at the terminal, but how is that supposed to work?

In any case, for both PER and ADL, the lounges (both airline lounges and waiting lounge space for pax unable to use the airline lounges) are pretty small; can't imagine with a 388 service there would they be conceivably sufficient.

Never, and none.

Can't be much more blunt than that :)

My parents fly EK PER-DXB and regularly complain about them being 'old clunkers'. I believe they're A340's (not sure which version) but apparently the J product is the old old product.

PER is not A380 ready for repeat services I believe. I can't see ADL getting them anytime soon either.

As others mention, 787 is more likely before an A380. There simply isn't the pax traffic to PER or ADL to justify them.

A340 + 777's to PER ex-DXB I believe.

As soon as Etihad launch their Perth to Abu Dhabi service, which is bound to be announced in the coming future there is a chance we may see the A380, given how many EY have on order. ;)

Perth sucks when it comes to international flights.... Come on V-Australia, launch something....

PER is not A380 ready so don't hold your breath unfortunately. They also have shiny new 777's to put on. Still a damn nice aircraft to fly IMHO.

Yes QF are very Sydney centred so the idea of running A380s out of PER would be unlikely.
We are getting a 747-400 for the run to SYD so that is an international cast off that must have been surplus to their BNE demand and Dallas demand.
To be honest I really liked going to SYD on the old 747-300 despite it's age and so I think the 747-400 will be very popular especially up front and up top.

Perth is A380 ready and has already hosted a couple of flights including an EK diversion. They upgraded the runway in2005 for this reason.

I'm also pretty sure A380 is painted on the apron adjacent to the terminal in ADL. Not sure why they would do that if they weren't ready.

I would settle for a EY 777 from Per to Auh. Gives me more options into Europe. Or a nice DJ tie up with SQ as per VS arrangement.
