First Qantas A220 revealed

I'd rather have a higher quality product on a lower frequency. The higher frequency mainly becomes important when the carrier is unreliable and recovery becomes more if an issue.

MEL-BNE is a business heavy route so frequency is vital.

.... is there something I'm missing?
Wifi?
So had my first Qantas A220 flight yesterday from Canberra to Melbourne. Here are a couple of observations:
...
Negative:
*Economy seat fabric like steel wool soap pads
*Poor fit and finish on seats
*No IFE, big miss for a plane that will be with us for the next 15+ years
*Increased interior noise than 717

The interior fit and finish is a definite down-grade from the 717, particularly the economy cabin, which was obviously done on a budget and is awful. You would loose a layer of skin if you were wearing shorts on those seats.

That said the crew, bar service and catering lifted the experience up.

6/10

Pluses:
*Great crew
*Bar service (early afternoon flight)
*Catering (biscuits and dip)
*Personal space (in extra space seating)

So really it's Qantas not Qantaslink. Just so they can pay less to the staff?

There’s no requirement to paint QantasLink on the side of the aircraft. QF can (and possibly should) migrate the jets to the mainline brand where rhe service is almost identical to a 737 vs a Q400.

They can still be operated by a subsidiary.

Looks like QF are replacing 737s with A220s completely on the MEL - BNE route from Dec. Amazing that all flights between our 2nd and 3rd largest cities will become QFLink - makes sense for a small regional route.
Yes they appear intermittently before then - am booked on one in September.

Allows QF to maintain frequency onn MEL-BNE but presumably improve yield / better match seat demand and overall capacity.

To be expected, cheaper everything for QF as a premium airline....
