First/Priority Baggage Tags....Do They Work!!!!

My bag from last TSV-BNE trip tagged Business came out at No. 22 on the merry-go-round. This is one of the best outcomes so far. Maybe I should stop this habit of counting, although I usually stop at 50 and just sigh .
I used to count and most of the time on domestic flights it would come out after 50+ bags. So I just gave up and now I go into the lounge for a quick drink or two and when I get to the baggage carousel my bag is going round and round waiting for me. Unless I have taken too long to get to the carousel and baggage services has my bag ready for me to collect.

Last week first tags on BA both way's SYD - SIN did nothing. Come out nearly last.

this week first tags on QF BNE - SIN both ways, out in the first batch of bag's to come through both time.

Exactly my solution! Quick couple of drinkies then down to the carousel, bags are there and waiting everytime. :)

When I'm a WP, I'll start doing the same, I think. Sadly, can't use the QP anytime just at the moment.

Likewise beardoc, because after my PER-MEL sector my bags came out near dead last - all the business and other priority bags had hit the belt 15min before mine decided to poke its bulbus head out the conveyor flaps.

Also wasn't helped by ground handling staff not being ready for the plane's (early) arrival and taking 15min before the first bags hit the belt.

Yep, my latest experiences are nothing to rave about.

Business or First tagged bags taking a while to come out. With plenty of untagged bags coming out first.

Qantas, wtf is going on? You offer a service, but can't deliver. Time to push your baggage handler's to do better!

A good experience with business tags this week HKG - BNE bag one not mine, but bags two three and four were. A good run at customs and immigration as well, walking through my front door 50 minutes after the flight touched down in Brisbane...a record

great record this trip MEL-AKL bags came out within first 10 bags, SYD-SIN bags were merrily spinning around by the time i got off the A380 and got my money, Even though it took time to get off plane, by the time I got there basically first and cabin crew were coming out.

In my experience SIN is awesome with doing First tagged bags first with BKK new airport pretty good now. The worst I find is pretty much any domestic airport in AU, business tags are not worth much and the two drinks in the lounge theory works well.

I've generally found Asian ports to be top notch, even with my lowly QP Priority tags.

It's hit and miss with these. I get a mix of business, first and priority tags on all flights - generally domestic works ok, internationally it's either really good or makes no difference.
Saying that, weird stuff can happen too. On a previous sector in J from HKG to SYD on QF, 3 bags were checked in with First tags under the same passenger at the same time. In SYD only two turned up in the first few, the other was well after the non-tags started streaming through. This could have been security related though - which throws any priority out the window (figuratively - thankfully).
Oh, and on the bag topic - be careful interlining (checking through) your bags... this is where it really is hit and miss - especially LHR terminal 5.
Considering where it goes and who handles it, baggage really is the true miracle of flight you know :D

I agree that the whole concept is a joke that doesn't work.

Firstly, I have noted that half the time check in staff forget to tag the bags.
The second and more disturbing experience I have had (with QF only) is that when I have got my bags in the first 20% that come out, they weren't even tagged.
From my 98 sectors last year my bags didnt come out in the 'priority' sense they suggest.
It seems the concept is.....bag (as in any bag) goes on carousel....that's it!

Mind you, when you first get onboard and look out the window at the guys loading the bags on the aircraft.....you'd swear they were throwing their ex-wife's belongings out of the house.
So that probably reflects the attitude of what we're dealing with here.
