Hi all - would welcome some (more) help to plan upcoming journeys. Apologies if these questions are answered elsewhere but I have not seen it covered.

1 - What would be a standard or acceptable price be for a First class xASA (P class) from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth (or to LAX or NY if more likely)? Aside from looking at QF classic awards, is expertflyer (to which I am subscribed) pretty accurate, so if I see a P fare I should be able to book it?

2 - If I purchase multi-sector flights in International business to Europe, can I purchase a guaranteed upgrade for 1 sector (eg, DXB-SYD in 1st class)? Not a points request, but a guaranteed seat and with the extra SCs and points earn. Any idea of cost for this particular leg upgrade too?

Thank you.

Well I paid 144k points plus approx $900 for an F trip LAX-SYD in May 2012.

Not sure about the other questions.

Thank you. A fraction more points than I had hoped! Presumably could be higher now.

Thanks. Searches show first but only via LAX (or Hong Kong with Cathay). Makes sense now.
