Got a heads up from a mate on the 10pts/$1 on qantas gift card and how to take advantage of it on a business trip. Here's what we did for a return trip - BNE - SYD - LAX - DFW - OMA flying first class on qantas's flight promo.

Total qantas vouchers used 4 x $2000 = 80000 pts

balance on cc $3500 - 5250 pts

Points from flight - ~43000 pts

points from buying gift cards on cc - 12000 or 16000 Pts depend whether purchase qualifies for extra bonus points.

Obviously with the right card such as westpac earth plat (or black?) then it's an even higher reward on points as there's a 3pts/$1 promo on qantas products.

Thats a good chunk of points for a business / first class round the world trip before taking tax effectiveness into consideration.....

Plus some 700+ status credits!

thrilled as!

How do you use 4x vouchers in one go?

good question and it is contrary to what the Qantas gift card site suggests.

i did have to make my booking via the call centre (13 13 13) and the maximum voucher you can use is 4. (Not sure whether it's the quantity of vouchers or the total value).

I need the name of the person who helped you complete the booking ..... :)

The call centre allowed you to use 4 vouchers for a one person booking?

It was probably not a good idea to post that information on AFF. ;)

I know that for cancelled flights vouchers the policy allows using up to 4 of them in one new booking, maybe it's possible now for gift vouchers too.

It's always possible but the terms and conditions don't allow it.
