Final flights for the B767

A few more seats have opened up. EF is now showing QF452's availability for 27 December as: J5 C0 D0 I0 Y2 B2 H1 K0 M0 L0 G0.

qantas.com.au is showing "5 or fewer seats!" for $539 (Flexi Saver Economy), $600 (Fully Flexible Economy) and $949 (Business) fares.

I just realised that what was supposed to be my last flight in J on a QF 767 on December 26 is not going to happen... the flight is now scheduled on a 738.
 
OGI was retired from service last Friday 28th November. The active QF 763 fleet is now down to 5. According to another board, all 5 are due to be retired on 27 December.
 
Some of the final flights (before 24 DEC) are likely to change with the cricket dates moving - for example BNEADL will change.
 
My final QF 767 flight will be QF436 MEL-SYD on the 12th. Tried to get one for the return trip as well but nothing worked well with my schedule.
 
looks like i have to shove my plans to go on QF452 then. Guys 1 Y seat will now be free! :D :(
 
On Sunday night I had my last flight on the 767, the final 767 QF821 CBR-MEL, registration VH-OGM. There were announcements of the significance of the flight made in the QP, at the gate, by the CSM and the Captain. Most of the PAX seemed not to notice. With only 8 of us in J, I sat back and celebrated with a glass of champagne whilst watching a spectacular light show out the window. One of the FA's asked if I was travelling to MEL on business and I replied no, that I was only flying to be on that final flight. She immediatley sat down next to me and we had a great conversation about the 767. She told me that FA's are endorsed on 3 aircraft, the 737, 767 and A330, so they continue on as normal once the aircraft have retired. Not so easy for the tech crew. Some will convert to the A330, others will take extended leave and contract overseas, others will retire. The FA invited me to stay behind for photos and I happily obliged. The tech crew were very happy to talk about the joy of flying the 767 and the passion they have for flying for Qantas. Some of the cabin crew were going on leave and it was also their final flight. We took turns having a photo in the coughpit. Both tech and cabin crew mentioned that they were all trying to swap to be on the final flights on Dec 27. There is a lot of excitment, tinged with sadness. VH-OGM's final flight will be the SYD-BNE-SYD rotation on Dec 27. I expect there will be a party atmosphere that day, both on the ground and in the air. To those of you who will be flying that day, I'm sure you'll have a great time. I know I did. One last thing, I made the mistake of using OLCI on my phone, so no souvenir boarding pass. :(

Lovely little report there - with regards to boarding pass, many tears could be averted with a reprint at the QP!

The 767's retirement is a sad time for many I do believe, but it's nice to see accounts like this and wonderful you were able to take 'snaps' in the sweet seats up front.

I do this quite regularly. Use the check-in kiosks to speed up check-in and then ask for boarding pass in lounge.

The 737's are not the same. Almost every single flight on Sunday's SYD-BNE is full. Difficulty breathing.

I'm not sure I see the problem with an airline flying aircraft that are full.

I believe JohnK is getting at comfort.

A 767 with the same load as a fully loaded 737 is carrying the same number of pax (albeit at higher cost) but gives the illusion of space as those same 150 odd pax don't take up 100% of the aircrafts capacity. Simple concept really.

Many empty seats on a 767 creates a feeling of space, compared to a chockers 737 which emits a sense of 'sardine-ism'

I know, flying MEL-SYD 14 times a year will not ever be the same. :mad:
