Feet on walls / bulkhead

Just had this all the way back from BKK to SYD on QF. No shoes or socks on and big disgusting feet hanging and up against the bulkhead in premium econ.

I was on the window seat and full flight so I couldn't escape.

I object to cleaning his shoes with the sleeve of my clothes!

Looking at that photo you’d be hard pushed to touch the shoe with your elbow.

I’m confident the person would not have their Nike’s on the wall at home

I have desks at home placed against walls. Every one has shoe scuffs on the wall under it.

Shoes on bulkhead is fine if temporary. I mean look if you’re on a long enough flight you’ll want to stretch your feet and if you’re in a bulkhead that means they’ll likely will touch the bulkhead. What is the issue if we’re talking about a minute or so?

I think the issue is that some people were taught a rule in childhood - that feet are dirty and must not touch anything other than the floor - and they are stuck with this now as an adult even though it makes little sense. Kinda like a superstition, maybe.

Odd, because in Australia we don’t take our shoes off going to to someone’s home! Which would be horrifying in much of Asia!

I suppose we don’t eat off the floor, but we don’t eat off a bulkhead either.

You must live a very sheltered life is all I can say. It is very common among a large group of friends, business acquaintances and relatives across four different states, been like that for decades. BTW: i am caucasian.
