Shoes on bulkhead is fine if temporary. I mean look if you’re on a long enough flight you’ll want to stretch your feet and if you’re in a bulkhead that means they’ll likely will touch the bulkhead. What is the issue if we’re talking about a minute or so?

I think the issue is that some people were taught a rule in childhood - that feet are dirty and must not touch anything other than the floor - and they are stuck with this now as an adult even though it makes little sense. Kinda like a superstition, maybe.

Odd, because in Australia we don’t take our shoes off going to to someone’s home! Which would be horrifying in much of Asia!

I suppose we don’t eat off the floor, but we don’t eat off a bulkhead either. 😳

You must move in very different circles is all I can say. It is very common among a large group of friends, business acquaintances and relatives across four different states, been like that for decades. BTW: i am caucasian.
