Go you good thing.

I want to see US90c, EU60c, GBP 55p.

C'mon!!

(I know, i'm dreaming!)

I'd say the Gordon Brown Peso at 50.3p is a pretty good steal! Considering what it was a couple of years ago, even at the height of the AUD.

OzForex are offering me 0.4974 to transfer some money over to my UK bank account. I'm wondering if I should or should hold off a bit longer!!!

Perhaps, but consider where GB (both the PM and the country) were back then.

The worst I've ever got in GBP was 33p and I was in London at the time (that hurt!).

From memory, was about 1999/2000.

Currently in the UK and dribbling money into my UK bank account via my Wizard card and ATM withdrawals.

(Incidentally, Wizard seem to have improved in the length of time taken to deposit funds onto the card - used to take two working days but now routinely taking just the industry standard of one.)

Well next week I am off to LOTFAP.Going to be a godfather in New Joisey-I know one of millions. We are going to my godsons wedding.Mrsdrron has decided none of her many pairs of shoes are going to be right for her outfit.she says she has found a nice pair of jimmy Choos. She will be there in NYC for 2 days before I arrive. So decided i need more money-Ordered it over the weekend.Result-the little Aussie bleeder has gone up a full 2 cents since then. The karma has returned.

But from a traveller's perspective - who cares? :P I mean, you could even do walk-ups to places like Gordon Ramsay's at Claridges or Roka now, not to mention get 50% off on new stock at Harvey Nics' (or at least it applied to the denim section, and some Alexander McQueen stuff). And has anyone noticed how cheap it is to fly ex-UK these days? No such cool stuff a couple of years ago.

My last trip to the USA involved 65cents to the $ :(

Now at 83 cents

But about to pay about $20k US for my next trip in the next few days.... To wait a bit longer or pay now...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm tempted to pull the trigger, but have to wait for the other half to get leave approved....:-|

1998, was looking at 33p to the AUD:shock:

My last USA trip was at ~77¢ - Most accom prepaid in early Jan at 80¢

I remember the first USD1450 HNL-BOS r/t YUP I did - still cost ~AUD2K

Ah! I still remember my first trip to the states in the early 80's-$1.30 to our dollar. No wonder I thought it was cheap.Still remember the rental car offer-pay an extra $7 and get 7 nights accommodation. Those were the days.

Travellers take advantage of stronger dollar

Travellers looking to take advantage of the Australian dollar's strength, may want to act soon. The swift rise of the Aussie versus the greenback has left investors wondering how much higher it can go before a correction sets in.
Since Friday, the dollar has jumped nearly 4 per cent, driven by a strong sharemarket, rising commodities prices and gathering optimism about Australia's economic future. This morning it is buying 84.10 US cents, unchanged from yesterday.
Nonetheless, a number of analysts have warned that the Aussie is due for a fall.
"We're still of the view that the Aussie dollar is overvalued," said TD Securities economist Annette Beacher. "The market has run ahead of itself in terms of forecasting interest rate increases sooner rather than later."
In the meantime, Ms Beacher said it was impossible to rule out the Aussie hitting 85-90 US cents.
Is the AUD going up or down??:rolleyes: Look's like she is having an each way bet:oops:

If I were a betting man... and I am... but I have no money to bet... I would have to say up...

Ours is one of the ONLY banks to talk about raising rates, the market is doing well, and employment figures are encouraging to say the least

Unbelievable! Just over 2 weeks to my trip and the AUD is getting stronger. How long can this last?

About 13 days:p:lol::rolleyes:

Sounds about right. I am watching the Yen amongst other currencies hoping the AUS$ will meet the meteoric rate of Feb 08 when the Yen was at mid 90s. Now languishing at 80. :(

Hopefully there will be an interest rate rise making the AUS$ more attractive to overseas investors. sorry if you have a mortgage but I am only thinking of myself here.

:D

I'm in the process of transferring a chunk of cash over to the UK again ;)

Current quote is 0.4998 through OzForex - a rate that I'm very happy with (but of course looking for the magic .50 )

I wonder whether I should start to get some UK currency and Euro now... or whether I should wait till November which is when I'm going :confused:

I know I should have waited ... after accepting a transfer for 0.4997, I see the current rate is 0.5014

Great to see it over the 2:1 barrier though (for me at least!)
