Commodity prices,interest rates,share prices-all of peripheral importance.
Its all about the drron travel index as I keep pointing out.there will be a correction in the $A at months end-possibly hitting 80c again.
In december as i pack my bags again it will plummet into the 60s.Stabilise at years end, maybe stage a rally in the New year then head south next Easter.
And I bet those predictions have as much chance being right as any economist's.

I too am traveling in December...
Can you delay your Dec travel plans, pleeeeassse?? :D

Umm Dont you mean 1AUD=$0.72USD?

Lastnight 1.00 AUD = 1.08 SGD
Today 1.00 AUD = 1.05 SGD

And 27 hours later 1 AUD = 1.01 SGD

Now it's more or less parity with the SGD, how long before we get to parity with the NZD????

Parity...pfffft! Now AUD$1 is only worth S$0.97:rolleyes:

My dinner in Sin on Mon night is getting more expensive by the minute!!!
Hopefully, my dinner partners have pity on me and "shout" me a dinner!

Try S$0.95 now, not a good night to be a currency trader with a strong postion on the AUD, those local DONEX pricings are starting to look cheap

Bet's on when it's going to hit 0.5 USD? 3am? Friday night? Next week sometime?

Went under 65c at 8:38pm Syd time. Back over 66c now.
And people were talking about partity only a few months ago.

And the reason. Well there are many but the fact that Fortescue Metals hit $13.15 in June and is now $3.62 is a sign

It better not! Otherwise I might write a trip report on how I survived a ~3 week US trip on 2 minute noodles, lounge food and pan-handling ;)

And here I am in NY with the rate at 68. It was 98 when I hummed and ha'ad about making sure I was covered. Kind of wish I had now.

Question is, should I be buying $US in the hope that the gap will continue to widen and thus partially recover my losses. Economists and gurus need not reply.

You can be assured that whatever decision you end up making, it will be the wrong one..... ;)

For what it's worth, I was listening to a PM report where a number of currency traders said it was the US/AUD getting back to basics; returning to its average since float (.69-.73). I personally think (and mark this down for when I am totally incorrect) it will even off here, and the gap will not widen much further.
