Does QF provide First Class baggage tags to WP members even when there are no F seats on an aircraft? eg PER to SIN on A330-300. I actually doubt that PER airport would even have the yellow F tags!!!

Also, can WP members use the SATS Premier Check in at SIN airport?

I don't remember seeing a OW emerald sign outside. There was a security guard at the entrance and asked me for my surname. I was travelling in F anyway, so did not pay attention if there was a OW emerald logo. I noticed that they grouped QFF SG and OW sapphire with QC and QFF PS members.

I think they go with the highest cabin level on the particular flight.
 
Being a WP, I and Mrs serfty used the SATS check in from SIN last year.

Sat down, bags were whisked away; an efficient and pleasant experience.

The Bags reappeared in MEL off QF10 among the first out - with F tags.:cool:

(Oz_mark is correct, highest class of cabin for your flight)

Your doubts are unfounded Chucksta, PER do have the yellow F tags, and whats more they also have first class boarding passes. I have had my bags tagged with the Yellow first tags even though flying J to SIN. However I have always connected to an F seat (points upgrade except for once) from SIN to LHR, so I cant actually say that a WP will get the yellow tags through to SIN as a final destination.
 
Catch QF5 to SIN each month and always get F tags even though it is only a 2 class service. Bags always among the first out in SIN. Return on QF32 via the SATS Premier check-in also gets the F tags, but unfortunately the baggage service at Sydney is lousy with the bags arriving anytime, usually along with economy or business class bags. SIN baggage handlers seem to recognise the F tags as meaning something, SYD baggage handlers don't seem to have the same service ethic. Australian service providers generally have much to learn from Asian service providers.
 
There is no point at all in a check-in agent putting F tags on bags for a 2-class flight. The handlers will only be providing two types of handling - standard and business/priority (ok, perhaps Crew gets an even higher level :rolleyes: ). so having an F tag on a two-class flight might help to boost the ego of the passenger, but will not make any difference for the way the bags are handled.

My F class tagged bags are generally close to last off in Melbourne. Makes me suspect that it's deliberate.

If you invest in a lock that's not so difficult to open, they might arrive sooner.
 
This reminds of a question thats been on my mind for a while. Does anyone get priority bags when connecting thru on AA from a domestic US destination thru to a QF flight from LAX to Australia? I did once - when I used some (long gone) UC's to upgrade to First and had First tags placed on bags in LAX, but on the other occasions my bags have no tags and come out with the regular baggage -despite being a WP & J passenger. Or is the tagging electronic, so physical tags not important? I don't do this journey often enough for it to bother me, but something I have wondered about, as I imagine many J (&WP/SG) pax would be connecting from elsewhere in the US.

My last AA-QF transfer at LAX (returning to MEL) saw my luggage intercepted at LAX and priority tags attached. Unfortunately these were only business and not first tags :(. Considering it was a UA-AA-QF connection on the same day I was just happy that they made it to MEL with me ;)
 
I'm pretty sure on my recentish (AA/QF)JFK-NRT-BNE trip in whY, that when I checked in at the F desk at JFK they attached priority tags. Later on, Qantas tags were added too.

(Not F, but Priority I believe).

Can't really remember. What tags are on my bags isn't the most important thing to me when on holiday :D
 
When I checked in at DFW for a DFW-LAX-HKG flight late weekend, the AAgent at DFW added two tags to the baggage tag, one was the purple "OneWorld" identification (not sure what purpose that has except to make the passenger feel important) and an orange AA Priority tag.

However, upon arrival at HKG my bag was certainly delivered delivered with any priority. It was obviously not loaded with the F and J bags that were tagged at LAX by CX and that were delivered first. My bag was at least 10 mins behind the first load of F/J bags delivered.

So it realy does not matter what tags are applied. It only matter where the handlers decide to load you bag in the hold.

Neither do I any more. I reckon that special TSA key they use to open bags secured with the TSA-approved padlocks consists of a bolt cutter. I like the way that they deposit the now useless locks inside my bag for me to dispose of thoughtfully in a way that doesn't involve cough insertion.

FWIW and IMO, I think locking any bags invite further "investigation" and possible foul play.

Eh, I do - if I take any. But in all of the many, many transpac and US transcon trips I have had to endure with checked baggage, I have only ever had my bags 'inspected' once. The inspection tripped the little window on the lock to red, and the inspector left a calling-card inside.

Of course, I could just be lucky.

As for 'Priority' tags, they seem to work quite well at SFO, less-so at LAX and SYD, and hardly at all at JFK. That's on UA services, of course, and not QF.

I lock my bag with a TSA-approved lock. On one of my recent flights, my bag was opened and 'relocked' by the TSA. They left a note saying we've opened your bag, but you can't sue us if you lost anything. :) I didn't even notice until I opened the bag and saw the note.

The bag was repacked quite tidily, unlike SYD Customs recently who just jammed everything into my bag and sent me on my way. If I wasn't in a hurry, I'd have slowly repacked everything in the way I wanted it and made him watch...

With regards to tags, QF at JFK (or T7 at JFK) tend to unload bags by tags. HKG tend to make sure F comes first, then everything else is mixed up. SYD-International tends to follow the tags, plus bags that have further connections tend to come out early too.

I think the order the bags are delivered has more to do with the order they were loaded at the point of origin rather than the way they are handled at the destination port.
