My wife and I flew CNS-BNE-AUH-ROM-AUH-SYD-CNS in May/June on discounted EY as VA Platinum and overall had an enjoyable experience however I bid a cash upgrade to Business on the BNE-AUH and was unsuccessful for an amount of ~$1750 (more than the cost of the return economy flight). We did manage to pay for a vacant seat between us for this and return ROM legs for what I thought was really good value. Coming home we left ROM at 22:00 so long day before we got going so upped the ante on Business seat bid by a couple of hundred $$ and was successful. Had flown a few Business seats domestically and to Asia but no long haul and no airlines with reputation of EY. Experience was ok and got desired result of sleep and service but overall was probably a tad disappointed for no particular reason. Did access First Class Lounge in AUH but as VA Platinum this was already available. My issue is I got points and SC on all legs apart from Business Class upgrade (again paid almost $4k cash). Wasn’t expecting elevated benefits just the economy benefits I had paid but zero points and zero SC were noted on activity. The issue is this the missing 80 SC results in me not getting to 800 SC to retain Platinum (plus nearly 20,000 points - SC and points quoted under Family Pooling) . I have contacted VA customer care and they were helpful and were looking into it. Any thoughts??

Only silver lining in booked a spur of the moment flight CNS-BNE to watch Lions win last week and that will see me keep Platinum before late August rollover.

It’s pretty normal for sc to fail to post when you’ve had an upgrade (paid or otherwise). Provide your original booking and an explanation and they’ll provide the sc and points for the fare booked.

I'm still waiting on points & credits for a similar situation - economy ticket upgraded to business (HKG-AUH) with cash bid.
I did a 'claim missing points' entry on the virgin website - but still has not come through.
When I logged in to velocity today to check the status I saw this notice...

On the return leg a month later, I also upgraded and those points & credits came through ok.
