Ok, so when I flew AIRNZ, they automatically put me in PE..

What experiences do other Gold Elites have flying AirNZ

Ie im booked in PE for my trip in August to LAX, what the chances they'll pop me up to J?

were you flying trans tasman?
If so, it is frequent for GE to be put in premium economy. I wouldn't rate your chances as high for PE to J...

As already mentioned on TT flights in PE equipped aircraft it is normal for statused folk to get the PE seats with Y service (as that class is not sold on those flights).

As a long term Gold (and current GE) on NZ I have yet to get any upgrade I did not "pay" for with Airpoints or Complimentary UG certs... and my understanding from others is that op-ups are vanishingly rare on NZ...

I'd plan on flying in the cabin you booked... and if you DO get upgraded take it as the rare and wonderful event that it is...;)

No worries, sounds the goods.

I did put in a request using comp upgrade cert's, but they said they would assess and confirm at a later date.

Flights are BNE-AKL-LAX-AKL-BNE all in PE (mind you we got 3 tickets for $2400 each!!)

two questions:

How good are they at giving the comp cert upgrades (ie them actually getting an upgrade)

and

I shouted my parents this trip (taking them with me after some really bad health) with myself being GE, will they seat them in PE on the TT flight with me?

Cheers

Simsy

If you are all on the same booking then your GE status should wash over them; if not you gunna need to work harder to get the good seats T-T together.

Update:

Got my GE to wash over them for TT and for AKL-LAX leg -happy days, three of us in PE for TT.

MY partner is now flying over the day after us, but on Delta Gear, on VA ticket, with a AirNZ Partner GE card... lets see how that goes!
