Have you tried to book the Aeroplan ones or they phantom availability?
Twice in the last few months I’ve seen availability on Aeroplan but fails when trying to book.

Just booked Mel/MXP at t+357 (9Oct27) in J for 90,000 pts by searching single dates in Y.. Seat booking fees are annoying though. Likely only time before U books as business basic.
Hoping to get the return leg on SQ as my points there are near expiry.

I only get to see up to 14 Sep. How are you able to book in Oct?

It's very much an Australia to Doha problem. No issues in the opposite direction.

Had the same problem with booking mid August. Ended up transferring points to SQ and booking there with plenty of availability though cost double the points.
Now need to book a return when they open up preferably end Sep or beginning Oct.
I have been looking at September as a guide (can only see till the 14th) and have noticed that seats in Y show up but no J availability straight away. They only show up after a few days and not all the flights at the same time. The ones leaving in morning or late at night show first, then the afternoon flights may show up later. Bit of a gamble!

I checked MEL - DOHA clicking every second date until the end of August and it's just pretty much economy seats for 75k points.

It is 9 days later!

At the time I posted they were available from multiple ports on those dates. So at the time it was a penalty against VA members.

Either they were phantom, or they’ve been taken in the 9 days.

But you stated in your post that you checked 2 dates (13/14 Aug) and then presumed the rest....

That's not exactly confirming availability is wide open as you mentioned.

Not being argumentative - Just fact checking you so others don't waste time searching Aeroplan for seats that don't exist.

I was not looking for seats for myself, so i checked two dates out of each of Sydney and Melbourne.

This confirmed the issue of award seats showing was a VA issue - but I did not try to book them, so they may have been phantom, but i haven’t encountered that issue before on aeroplan.

It takes a few seconds to search, if people are after the seats it’s worth checking.

Apologies if my posts confused the Thread. Yes, this was an Avios booking direct with Qatar.
Per my initial post the QR booking system has been broken for months when searching J class calendar availability ex Oz. Seems possible that this is causing downstream issues for Aeroplan and VA.

Yes considering the same....can still find a little bit of business saver availability late August. I would far rather QR...I don't love SQ...but beggars cant be choosers!

A bunch of QR business class over the period in question was showing this morning....but annoyingly, fails and then disappears on attempted payment...which I believe is a known issue at the moment.

How frustrating! When you mean known issue, are you meaning this is ghost availability, or it's a website bug and it could be bookable by the contact centre.

I believe if you call it doesn't exist. Some of the search sites like Gyoza have posted about it.

Yeah this has been going on for a year+ with phantom seats showing on the VA search with QR. I could get all the way to the payment page then an error would come up. I called them once about it and they said it was a known issue. They were happy to do some searching for me to find something suitable. In the end was able to piece something together that wasn't even coming up in the search.

When in doubt just call them and book them while on the call.

Same here.
As previously mentioned have had same issue for over a month. When I called the "help centre" I was told that those flights did not exist and that one leg was not available in J therefore the booking failed at time of payment.
I have taken several screenshots and sent them with my complaints. I lodged 2 complaints with different screenshots and had an automated reply to the second one stating that if I had already lodged a complaint not to expect an answer to the second one.
Basically the answer was either someone beat me to the reward or the flight was not all in J.
I did change browser and computer and the same unbookable fares kept showing up.
I booked through Krisflyer in the end.
