Is there a way to get around the BA Executive Club account restriction for those living in Australia?

find a friend with an address in the UK - that's what I did

You would expect them to open it up soon to Australians due to their fallout with Qantas.

I've never received anything from them by postal mail. Everything has been electronic. Of course if I earnt some status I would be sent a physical card.

Thanks, FWIW this question was split from another thread about how to search for Cathay Award availability.. figured I want to give BAEC a try in addition to using QFF.
