Ever forget where you're going?

Have to admit this wasn't the first time.... but last week I was checking in for what I thought was a flight to Sydney and out pops the boarding pass to Melbourne. Quick check of the diary and I was indeed due in Melbourne, Sydney the next week..

Anyone else in the same boat?

Not so much as where I'm going, but sometimes on first waking up at hotel I need think about what I'm doing that day.

Never quite forgotten but often have to stop and think for a few seconds.
Strangely, it seems to occur more frequently as I get older.

I once got off a plane, walked to the hire car place, picked up my car and realised I didn't know where I was or where I was going. Had to think hard and look at my diary. Fortunately I had printed everything out a couple of days beforehand and soon found where my hotel was that evening.

*For security reasons I remove them from their little cardboard folders that have the room number written on it

Sometimes when I'm on multi-sector itineraries, with many flights in a row, or many flights in a few days, I forget all about my itinerary, and just worry about the next flight and how many hours and minutes until its departure.

Sometimes in a push when I'm just remembering how many hours until I have to board my next flight, I forget the date or day of the week. It's not until I'm on a long service when I pull out my phone / computer and refamiliarise myself.

Definitely forgotten a few times what room i'm in (mainly in the USA on 10-20 segment trips; all damn Hyatt's look alike!).

And, as I follow the 'why fly direct' mantra, i've often forgotten where i'm going when at LAX, LAS or ORD when staring at the departure board trying to find my gate, looking for the destination as the airport i'm already at.

The problem with US airports is when you travel through the same 5-6 of them so often, they all blur in together.

Last month when checking in at the VA curbside lounge entrance, I told the Angel, I was Xam flight to MEL, got a fright when told she could not find my booking, then realized I was going to BNE.

Oh yea, happened to me a few times before... When you fly a lot the destination often becomes vague.

Sometimes I find myself sitting in the lounge, staring at the board and trying to remember my departure time...

Women simply ignore me. I still do not know where I am going. Best for everyone involved....

Only happens when I book the return to OOL and then start looking at the boards wondering where the Xpm flight is to BNE.... Happened afew times now

All the time. My worry is that I'll get off a plane in some anonymous airport and my mind will be searching for my next flight - that I took yesterday. Or will be taking tomorrow.

And sometimes there's a complete blank. Luckily my itinerary is always within easy reach.

As for hotels, waking up in the middle of the night with no clue of where I am or where I'm going next is a frequent occurrence. Even when I get home again, I might wake in a panic that my flight to O'Hare is leaving in an hour and I'm not ready.

I woke up one morning, noticed someone in bed with me and went oh cough, what have I done, then realized it was my wife and I was actually home. Thought I was in a hotel. Scared the living daylights out of me....

Even funnier, I told her and then got the third degree about why would I even think I wasn't home. Lol

When I sat in the lounge this morning and saw my flight is boarding I had a strange feeling I forgot to do something. I went to the desk and asked for my boarding pass to be printed and then was told that I didn't check in and therefore been removed from the flight. The nice angel made a call and managed to put me back on the flight but I was downgraded from 23B to 55F.

The funny thing is that after the Asiana crash yesterday my missus asked me not to sit in the back of the plane and I told her 'don't worry love, I never do...'

Where I'm going. where I've been, where I am and even who I am.

Once walked into the wrong hotel, thought the corridor to my room looked a bit strange, tried my key in the door and was about to go and get a new one when I realised what I'd done. In my defence, the hotels were close together and looked similar.
