Thought I'd do a quick review given Etihad don't explain clearly what the lounge situation is in Kuala Lumpur.

Flying business, they gave me entry to Plaza Premium First. I'd assume status (Guest and Velocity) would only get the standard Plaza Premium access, which is the lounge they list when you search for their lounge in KL.

The lounge is small and compared to the SilverKris Gold lounge at Changi I was in earlier today, it's a step down.

Settled in with a drink and ordered a nasi lemak that came quickly but left a lot to be desired.

Checked the Plaza website and lounge access would have been $120 for 5 hours if anyone wanted to get in.

This lounge is better than nothing I suppose. Cheaper business ticket but this is the downside of flying out of KL.

I was through there yesterday and to put it nicely it’s a bit of a dump but then I remember how bad the regular Plaza Premium lounge at KUL is.
The online ordering service had a small selection and my meal was ordinary plus the buffet selection was pretty dire. Seats were worn badly and even ripped and it’s a small little shoebox of a lounge. Only redeeming features are good views of the runway and a automatic Asahi beer dispenser that had ice cold beer. EY often has some decent prices ex KUL which is also why we go there

FYI, Etihad has now switched to the Malaysia Airlines Satellite Golden Lounge in KUL.

I'm guessing it happened very recently (July 1?). I was pleasantly surprised to be informed of that on check-in.
